5 star food!!! BUT DISLIKE the automatic 15% service charge (party of 3) and being accosted to tip 20% on top of that. They hovered over the person signing the cc reciept (staring at the paper) and wouldn't hand the card back until tip situation was resolved. They told us tips only accepted in cash - since we only had a $20, we way over tipped. It was slow service almost caused us to miss our show after eating here at 6pm on a Saturday. There were only 3 other tables so it wasn't exactly busy and no one was here for the nightclub experience yet.

Palace wings: omg so good. Crisp and flavorful batter.

Jollof rice: not the prettiest when it comes out but it is so good. Nice spices and not overwhelming.

Egusi and swallow: stew with assortment of meats, fish mixed into the melon soup (be careful of fish bones- they're larger so shouldn't be a problem). I will note that it was big so I took half home. It went bad in under 4 days in the fridge - since it was $28, I expected it to be fresher/last longer in the fridge. Swallow was pounded yam: really thick mashed potatoes essentially.

Malt soda is recommended!

Suya: really flavorful strips of meat (brisket I believe). Great amount of fat on the meat and great texture.

The rest of my group said they liked the food but wouldn't come back because of the interpersonal stuff. I...would come back but only do takeout (if I had time to wait for a while after ordering). But still wary of the...

My friends and I were looking for somewhere to grab food in the area, and GQ Palace Restaurant & Lounge was one of the only options that opened until late (2am).

Definitely keep in mind that this is a lounge/club, so if you plan on being able to talk while dining in the evening - this may not be the option that you want to go with.

The service was very very slow… There was some slight confusion with the waitress when our table gave our order - but luckily we were able to iron it out before the food arrived.

It could have been that we were super hungry - but the food did seem to take a long time to come out. We decided that was likely a good thing as it meant it was being freshly prepared 🤷🏽‍♀️.

Overall the Suya was tasty, and the pepper sauce served on the side was actually a good spice level. The Nwkobi (cow feet) was tasty - and it had been a while since I’d had it, so that was a pleasant surprise. My friends had the Fried Rice and Goat Soup and they both agreed that it was tasty.

I wish I had checked the bill properly before paying… I wasn’t aware of the 15% additional service charge added to each bill. Maybe if I had known that I wouldn’t have added such a generous tip.

I have ordered isiewu for more than 7 times in the last 4months and the only time I enjoyed it was the first day I dined in. The rest was delivery and they were all terrible, the taste was good to be frank but it was all bones with either 4 peices of meat with bones or 5 pcs with bones. It seems like they count it, then they make it up with bones and sauce with very tiny ugba. I mean pure bones and on two different orders they had to add 3 large pcs of meat that looks like liver meat, Trashed. Liver in goat head? I called and they apologised. Several times I gave benefit of doubt but they seem not ready to treat customers better. Not worth it. 4 or 5pcs of meat and the rest is bone and sauce. You're basically buying sauce and dry bones.
