There are many places which try to be two things at once & often fail at one or both. In my opinion, Kenny's fits right into that; but I'm glad to say that they do have their talent.
First the bad: I wouldn't particularly recommend the sub shop foods. I do have a couple coworkers whom disagree, though; but I grew up in Philly and have a certain passion for a good Italian sub shop or Kosher deli... so Kenny's just doesn't quite cut it on that end.
But onto the good: I adore their Chinese. It's absolutely American-style Chinese -- if you're actually Chinese and want more home-like food: this isn't for you. I love their General Tso's, in particularly, and my coworkers regularly order the full gambit of other dishes... especially lo mein, moo goo gai pan, & sweet/sour chicken. The half & halfs (1/2 lemonade, 1/2 iced tea) is a sugar overload -- unbelievably tasty and addictive, but essentially liquid diabetes... mmm.
I'm also a fan of the staff: they're very quick and to the point. I like my service either long, drawn-out, and conversational; or quick and efficient; and this is the latter. Placing an order on the phone will last mere seconds even if ordering for the entire office.
One thing to remember: it's cash only; plan ahead. There's an ATM next door for those...
Read moreCustomer service cashier was nice shrimp fried rice was horrible. Yellow rice how is it called fried rice also the shrimp taste old and soggy. Crab stick was old and mushy too along with the egg rolls. The general tso had no taste chicken was old and broccoli hard again yellow rice. The worst part they don’t tell you its yellow rice nor ask if you want white rice but my guess there’s no such thing as white rice here. My first and last time ever going into this place. Thought i give it a try today 02/23/24 because we always saw alot of people going in. NEVER EVER WILL I BUY ANYTHING NOT EVEN SOMETHING TO DRINK OUT THIS PLACE. They seem to think they can give certain people anything or service. Not me the question what do I recommend? That you take your money...
Read moreKenny's is fine for what it is. Good cheap Chinese and other greasy foods in nice amounts for the money. Anything I've had here has been decent - wings, egg foo yung, shrimp fried rice (though I agree with another poster that their "fried rice" is just boiled yellow rice, not fried). They are generally nice but were much nicer before I started asking them to make sure my wings had no feathers (before I asked it was like the wings were never plucked). Never seen a roach egg, toenail, or anything close to that nasty in my food...knock wood. Kenny's is fine if you're not expecting top of the line from a cheap Chinese carryout in a strip mall in a so-so neighborhood...take it for what it...
