Jackson Park is not the place to play if you are a female golfer on a busy day. This afternoon (6/25), my partner and I made a tee time to play with our two friends. All in all, it was two female golfers and two male golfers. We knew it would be busy because it was a beautiful day out. We got there on time and teed off, and it all went downhill from there. After the two holes, we noticed the group behind us was on top of us. After a few more holes, we let me play through on the 5th. They were grateful for the offer, and we waited for them to go to the green. After we finished the 5th hole and were in the middle of the 6th, Nathan, employed by the golf course, stopped us to reprimand up for our "rate-of-play." We tried to explain to him that we were behind because we let the group behind us play through, but he was not interserted in hearing us. He kept saying, "All I know is you're off time." Again the reason we were off time could easily be explained.

After we finished with the first nine holes, my partner, who has played golf with Nathan in the past, tried to explain to him what happened. Nathen wanted nothing to do with the conversation. Saying, "Back when I learned to golf" and "As a golfer, this is how we play." He was more interested in talking down to my partner than figuring out what happened.

The problem was very clear from the start. All the groups in front of us and behind us were male. They noticed two females playing in the same group and instantly became annoyed with our play rate. Yes, we may have been slow playing, but we tried to fix the problem, and guess what happened? We got reprimanded for it. If we were a group of all men, this wouldn't have happened. If you want to have an enjoyable experience golfing and are a female, beware of Jackson Park Golf Course. My experience there made me feel terrible, and the way Nathan treated us was horrible. I'm trying to learn to play golf; even when we do the right thing, we are chastised. Do better! Please, for all the female golfers out there, do better.

Anyone wanting to talk to me about today's experience is welcome to contact me. I'm incredibly upset at how we were treated, even when we did the...

So disappointed in how this course has fallen into disrepair. The staff at the Pro Shop is friendly and the putting/chipping practice area and covered driving range are great, but the course is embarrassing. Come here to practice at the range and enjoy their hot dog, beer, and bucket specials, but if you want an enjoyable golf game, forget it.

Sure, you're not paying that much to play, but how enjoyable is it to play a rock hard course that is not watered at all? There are two pairs of holes (5 & 6, and 8 & 9) where balls hit into the center of the fairway roll off and through the non-existent "rough" on the side of the fairway to a common spot of dry, cement hard mudpack. On 8 & 9, there is even a rolled up hose and portable sprinkler in the spot where almost all balls hit into either fairway seem to roll off and back into. How about using the sprinkler and putting some seed down to grow grass?

Then the lack of any time management on a weekday afternoon causes 4 sets of golfers waiting, backed up by hole 4. A call to the Pro Shop did nothing. Heck, they got the greens fees, you don't like it, leave right? After nine holes yesterday afternoon, I did just that. Sad.

At some point the excuses need to stop and places need to take more pride in how they manage their property and cater to their customer base. Plus the homeless camp outside the park near the green on hole 5 is just another sign of Seattle wasting away to...

The best course in Seattle. I learned to golf there. Started on the Executive 9 hole course until I graduated to the main course w/hubby's help and the help of the staff. They are patient even with me, a not so great golfer. This is a good course to learn on, it has it all: ponds, creeks, hills (carts too thank gawd) lots of trees. But is still challenging enough for even seasoned golfers to have to work for their Pars. Each fairway is lined with trees so you don't have to worry about the fairway next to you having someone playing up your fairway. It's a city course so could use some help w/restrooms, cart paths etc. But the super wonderful team that works there you know are doing the best they can to get it fixed when the city lets loose of some funds. They added a driving range and with my good luck my fav golf pro. Val, joined them. Luv her. The course is older so as I said needs some work, (restrooms, cart paths) but the food taken care of by Anthony & James & team is great. The proshop with manager Kathy ( I do miss Gail ) but Kathy is great, then the wonderful proshop guys Will, Tommy, many many others I'm afraid I'll miss someone if I try to name them all and I'd not wish to hurt anyones feelings. John taught me how to hold my club w/a "proper golf grip". I LOVE these guys/gals. Can run slow but what course doesn't when weather in Seattle is good? Join the fun and hugs...

Jackson Park does the best they can with the incredibly limited resources available to them. The new(ish) range is nice, the balls are in good shape and prices for buckets are fair. All of the staff, pro shop, range, and restaurant are helpful and friendly. The restaurant has a good selection of libations and snacks, and a TV. The 9 hole executive course is deceptively challenging, fun for the kids, but in pretty rough shape with shaggy, weed-dappled greens. Unfortunately, due to the accessible price point and lack of other public options nearby, Jackson draws "golfers" who have no respect for the course, the game, or other golfers. Pace of play is often miserably slow. There's no sand available to fill divots so the fairways and, even worse, the tee boxes are a disaster. It seems few people playing this course are familiar with a green repair tool or how to use it. The poor course gets beat up because some "golfers" simply don't care. Yeah, I'm looking at you, four guys who broke covid rules and created a foursome with four carts, got drunk on the illegal booze you smuggled in, played like complete idiots, backed up 5 twosomes behind you, and all shook hands at the end of the round. Please never golf again. It's sad to see the course abused but I'll keep playing here and fixing 5+ ball marks on every green. Please endeavor to do the same so we can all enjoy this public park.

Honestly I hate this course and the staff is just filled with warm bodies. They only pep up if you’re loud. I’ve played here 5 times now and I just can’t recommend this course especially given the price half the time. The golf course… The fairways and tee boxes have been rough and inconsistent for every visit. Slow pace and traffic jams make it even worse. You’re better off going to the Nile for something fun yet challenging.. You have to play to the natural slope of the course to score low and I just find that incredibly tedious. Especially with all the inconsistencies among the course. You’re more often than not punished for well placed shots with weird inconsistent bounces or in a patch of divots from funneled up lay ups. I don’t recommend taking lessons here either. Took a lesson here to work on my swing path as 13 handicap and the instructor really didn’t listen to me or analyze MY swing and instead tried to reset my swing with one practice drill. I went and saw a coach at Interbay and the experience was night and day. The coach took their time to evaluate my swing and had me apply two swing thoughts which tightened up my iron dispersion and cleaned up driver. Just warm up here then go play somewhere else.

Jackson park is a local Seattle course that is relatively near the city and is in pretty good shape, despite the wet climate. The course is surrounded by tall foresty trees, and has lots of interesting opportunities to challenge yourself. From the tips, the course plays a bit longer than its 6100 yards total distance because it has several holes that are uphill and into the wind. The grass coverage and upkeep is pretty good and the greens are usually in excellent shape. There are a few greens that are relatively steep and breaking, so you will get a great opportunity to practice your lag putting. In terms of shape and shot selection, Jackson offers all sorts of interesting situations and blind shots. Of course, every round of golf is a conversation between the player and course. So with that said, depending on how you’re playing, your strategic thinking, and your imagination, you can really have a fun round out here. Overall, this facility has good practice greens, a good double decker driving range, and a reasonably challenging course to up level your game.
