I visited PacGal the other day with the hopes of purchasing a ring. No one even said hello upon walking in. After looking around for a bit a friendly sales lady was helping me try some on and taking me from one display case to the next and offering me helpful advice on which ring looked better. I was on the verge of making a decision when another of the staff came up to forcefully remind the sales lady that she had to "Go to lunch". She abruptly left, at which point another dour and lifeless looking saleswoman took over and simply waited for me to finish looking at the rings so that she could put them back. It is obvious that they couldn't care less if anyone buys anything at all. They don't seem to have any incentive to make a sale. One got the impression that the employees were simply waiting for the clock to strike closing time so that they could leave. The first lady was helpful and enthused about potentially selling me a ring. I got the impression that the other employees were annoyed that she would even try to sell anything. What a great business model! I like the showroom. There are many beautiful items there. Some of them reasonably priced, some expensive. The selection is great. The service was as if they got people from the department of licensing to work at an antique mall. I don't mean to sound harsh but I simply wouldn't want to buy anything off of a bunch of unfriendly...
Read moreThis place is absolutely huge. I walked around for 4 hours to get a good look at every booth. Some of the owners were at their shops if you're lucky and you can chat about where all the stuff came from. Otherwise, you grab a tag from the case or booth to remember the stall number and go up to the front desk to buy something. I was mainly looking for a bridal tiara and a sapphire/blue silver necklace, but found so many more antique hair accessories and brooches I can make into hair accessories, and wasn't lucky on the right necklace for me. The annoying part about every booth being owned by a different person is you can't ask someone to show you to every tiara in the warehouse, as they don't know which ones and the individual owners can change out merchandise every day. So, you look at everything. The joy of antiquing! I found furniture items to be very expensive and mostly jewelry and clothing was pretty reasonably priced. They welcomed picture taking and they have pictures of a lot of the booths online. I personally started treating this place as a museum and art museum. Some of the art was incredible and there was a lot of Seattle specific pieces of history that were interesting...
Read moreWhile Lander has a lot of great vintages wares, I will not be returning as a result of an incident that occurred on the premises on 5/15/25. My toddler and I were standing next to the check out when an employee walked toward us with a man yelling obscenities. They stopped right next to us - the man yelling was 2 feet from us and looked right at me and I said to him “Do you mind, I have a little kid here?” Prior to saying that I thought he was just mad with the employees but then he started yelling at me - not an I’m somewhat angry raised voice but SCREAMING as loud as he could possibly could - calling me every cuss word and insult under the sun while my toddler looked wide eyed up at him. The employee eventually guided him out the door but not a single employee standing around thought it was appropriate to check in with me and my small child. Not a sorry, not an are you ok, not a can we walk you to your car given there is a crazy person possibly waiting outside for you for standing up to him? My kiddo started crying and would not stop asking me about the mean man. Where is the humanity? Is this what I have to look forward to when assaulted in public? I’m absolutely baffled, shocked and...
