Well, this is one of my first reviews of a business and I feel like writing so, it's gonna be long. My Wife and I where on a much needed RV trip to Bodega Bay. When we uncoupled the fifth wheel trailer from the truck, I noticed something was wrong. The latch would not lock open and I needed my Wife to hold the release lever open to get the truck free from the trailer, not safe or correct. After leveling everything and setting up camp, I removed the hitch from the truck to see what we were up against. The catch lever that locks the clamp into the release position had bent and ran under the hitch pin. When we uncoupled the truck, the lever was forced to rotate 180 degrees out of position and this bent the pin it rides on and broke the pushnut that holds the whole mechanism together. What a mess, how am I gonna get this rig back on the road in five days. It's a special hitch for ultra short bed trucks, not the norm even if there was a well stocked R/V store anywhere close. While sipping some whiskey and trying to figure out how this hitch goes back together, I ask my Wife to look up the local Ace Hardware. To be honest we are a bit biased. We own an Ace Hardware about 150 miles inland. I knew this would be my best bet for helpful service and a well stock hardware department (read nuts and bolts and trinkets and gadgets). G found an Ace in Sabastopol, just a quick hoop on the motorcycle from Doran Beach. I explained my situation to the very helpful person who I didn't catch the name of and he said he could TRY and bend the lever back to shape, no guarantees. None necessary as I knew I was asking a lot, none needed as the team did a perfect job getting the lever as straight as new. I grabbed a couple of sizes of pushnuts, a metal barbed coupler (we'll call it a pushnut installer) a small hammer and a few different greases and lubricant sprays (I already had duct tape and zip-ties on the trailer). The people at check-out were very nice and we were off to put the whole affair back together. Back at camp, the hitch went back together,..............without a hitch. (Really?) What a relief, we enjoyed our time off instead of worrying. And five days later we found out that our relaxation was warranted as the hitch worked perfectly. (Damn, we have to go home) Thank You to the team at Sebastopol Ace Hardware, you have a wonderful store that is certainly living up to the "Helpful...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThey carry a lot of healthier options of pet foods, not the standard commercial brands. They have loads of dog toys, treats, chew options, supplies such as soft Kong e collars, leashes. They don't have quite as many options for cats, but they are always adding in per suggestions from customers. They offer an assortment of fish and aquarium supplies as well. They have some reptiles like Bearded Dragons available. This space is shared with Sebastopol Hardware's clothing section, fishing supply section and paints. Strangely, miraculously even, they make it all work and you can find everything you may be looking for quite easily. There is always plenty of parking available including wheelchair accessibility. Every first Saturday of the month is customer appreciation with a 20% discount and free popcorn. Our dogs are particularly fond of this day as an outing because they get to hoover the floors for spilled popcorn. They do host low cost vaccine clinics every couple of months and local animal rescue adoption fairs every few weekends. They're really supportive of local...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThe experience I had here was awful. I went in looking for the Yeti Wine Tumbler which they had. On Ace hardwares website it says that they had it in stock for $18.74 so I drove all the way over there Only to find out the price was different in store. The price was the original $24.99. I asked the cashier if they price match their own website and they stated they did not (mind you I went over there thinking I was going to get the tumbler for 18.74). I was told I needed to order it online and that they were not sure when it will be ready for me to pick up. To me this is awful customer service. Especially during this time I would want to keep customers happy and keep them coming back. I work in retail and I know that in many occasions I have priced matched my company's own website to make sure I retain that customer because that person always knows someone who knows someone and the word of mouth is the best way to promote a company good or bad. I recommend bot shopping at this location or if you do make sure you don't go off of what it says online for...
