Shorewood Shopping Center — Attraction in Shorewood Hills

This strip mall is one of the most special in all of Madison Wisconsin. Penzey's Spices isn't like anywhere else that I've ever been. You can buy small quantities or in bulk, you can get refillable containers, you can find hard to find spices, or their unique blends. This place is a treat to the senses. It is a local source for some of the best spices you can find on the planet. The also provide mail order and online sales of you can't get there in person or have moved from the area.

Next, in the mall is Vomm Fass. Another specialty shop, it discussions in oils and alcohols. Here you can source hard to find cooking oils, infusions and blends. Their alcohol section is -not- like a liquor store. You can get small amounts decanted into small amounts for a gift, party, or for a special drink or dish you are preparing. This little store has so much going on inside that it's difficult to describe. There also have an extremely helpful web presence to help you better choose and order what you need.

There are other shops and businesses at this location, but I admit that I haven't made it into then due to Pensey's and Vomm Fass! You should check it out. I don't think you will be...

An incredible oil and vinegar tasting from the host when I walked in. This was my second time ever venturing into vom Fass and it's clean and friendly. I learned what to understand new mind blowing flavor combinations! I just wanted a bread dipping oil and ended with purchasing the imported San Gimignano EVOO from Italy. They have an incredible place and I can't wait to take my better half there to share the experience and hopefully learn more and possibly take some class time that they have a special area for. This is a delicious must do addition to the bucket...

Three of my favorite stores are in this strip mall. An absolute feast can be had by stopping at Concious Carnivore, Penzeys and Vom Fass. The parking lot leaves a lot to be desired, especially if you are approaching from the west, but it is also with the treat of visiting the shops there.
