Secure parking in Silver City. Take the trail south and soon you'll be in a nice hike along the creek. You'll experience ruins and remnants of items from days gone by. Various information signs also exist which add to the experience. I was informed that along the Big Ditch trail I would encounter and be approached by homeless people which might be uncomfortable for some. So far this has not happened.

Very amazing trail and bridges next to a small stream that often bulges into a river during floods. Was once the main street, and today may be revived with rear-facing businesses, especially near the old roller rink soon to be a brewery and tasting room.

Interesting history and neat area. A lot of trash and tagging by vandals or I'd give it five stars. However, the fact it was an ecological sister turned into green space is fascinating.

Again while in Silver we walked along the creek. If you find a place with pictures of the big floods of the past you will learn why this is named the Big Ditch. That said just take a stroll along the creek in old down town Silver City. it is a wonderful, peaceful, shady, series of benches, stairs and walkways along the creek. With several bridges it is easily accessible from either side of the creek and is a nice escape, especially on a warm afternoon. Sometime it is a great place to read undisturbed. Sometimes it is the site of a roaring creek. Come on over and take a walk, it is...

Nice little hidden away park. The only park in Silver City with running water. My favorite in town. I love to walk my dogs there several times a month. If you are adventurous, you can start at the downtown entrance and follow the trail down stream for several miles.

Caution: DO NOT visit this park after dark because 1, it has poor lighting making difficult to see fall hazards. 2, homeless, delinquents, and drug users tend to occupy the area between...

I was born in Silver City 1948. I used to cross over the "arroyo" Big Ditch when I attended elementary school 1953-1957. It was on a very narrow steel bridge which I found scary but I had to do it. I also remember playing in the arroyo but I can't remember how we got down into it. Must have been a path somewhere. I still consider Silver City my home town with cherished memories of my...
