Referring ONLY to the restaurant part, the food is reliable though inconsistent depending which cook is on. Lots of variations on the identical dish--but at least it's always good eating. If you like fish, try their great fish tacos. However the wait service for the last 6 months has been terrible. 3 dinners different dinners out of 4, one with out of town guests, one for a birthday--& no matter how many times we requested it, we had no silverware for a full half hour AFTER!!! OUR FOOD CAME. Imagine staring at your fancy dinner without a way to eat it for that long. Same thing with ketchup--we nearly had to beg for it after burgers & fries arrived. FIVE DIFFERENT TIMES! the 2 burger people requested ketchup to the wait person who never ever brought it. My friend would not let me grab it off a neighbor's table bcz they other table was still using it. If I were not a local who has had many great dinners there, I would give them only 2 stars bcz of the excessively, repetitive ridiculous service. I am writing this in hopes of improvement. I did not want to lower The Toad's overall rating by giving them a 2 star review. But this bad wait service is now far from a one time miss. My house guests are back in CA still laughing & complaining about how many times they had to ask for silverware AFTER their food arrived. Oh yeah, the birthday night, which was separate from the CA folks night, when we also could not get any silver ware AFTER food was served, really squelched our celebration spirits. Comm'on Toad! Get it back together. TRAIN or "REEEEE!" TRAIN! YOUR WAIT PEOPLE TO MAKE SURE THERE IS SILVERWARE ON THE TABLE BEFORE YOU SERVE THEM. If your wait person cant remember to bring drinking water when people desperately need it, serve it before the meal like the old days. Eating there on our special family occasions was totally disappointing--but only recently. Hoping they have a quick change back to being an all around...

Little Toad Creek offers a great atmosphere with a quiet, open side room that features games, including darts, pinball, and a pool table, and space for families and groups to spread out in without disturbing patrons in the main dining area. Staff are friendly and patient with dietary restrictions and kid energy.

I understand that the Little Toad Creek doesn’t run with vegans in mind, and I appreciate that the servers and kitchen staff were willing to remove ingredients to accommodate my dietary preferences. The menu does a decent job of listing ingredients, but it doesn’t have detailed allergen information.

When I asked our server what she could recommend for a vegan, she pointed me towards the Hungry Hippie. The vegetarian-friendly Hungry Hippie's portobello was well prepared and had a great texture, but without a vegan alternative for the several cheeses described on the menu, I definitely missed the intended experience. The brioche bun contains dairy, and I was told I'd need to pay $2 for a dairy-free bun when the gluten-free bun was listed at 75 cents on the menu and is what I believe I was ultimately served. The bun I ate was powdery and not very pleasant; the bed of greens would have been a better option, but it wasn't highlighted by our server. I wouldn't recommend the Hungry Hippie for a vegan but expect it would be pretty solid for a vegetarian. The cajun fries that came with my order had cajun salt liberally sprinkled over them, but it flavored the plate more than the fries. I think the best a vegan could do these days at Little Toad Creek is to go for the house salad and hold the feta, which is a bit of a let down.

The staff were solid and the atmosphere was great, but I can’t recommend the food to a vegan as it stands, and there may not be enough vegan customers to warrant more...

We came in for late lunch on a wintry day. Whoa. What a find! First up, the house IPA which was very good. Bitter and malty. They had two guest NA beers for J and she chose the Guinness which was served with an extra flourish in a clear pint glass so the guinnessy aerosol effect would be prominent. Our high top table in a storefront windowed corner gave a great view onto the street of sleet yet kept us cozy. J chose the New Mexico Reuben with fries. I chose bangers and mash. The reuben layered a great corned beef and New Mexico sauerkraut which was made with onions and green peppers. The sauerkraut took the Reuben over the top. Best ever says J, and the fries good too. The bangers and mash also served with the same house sauerkraut and creamy seasoned mashed potatoes. The mash and kraut awesome in a bite as was the kraut and banger bite. The bangers were perfectly boiled in beer then grilled brats with cheese melted on top. I would ask to delete the cheese next time as I felt the cheddar detracted slightly from the dish. The Brewery itself is a big place with space for a lot of partying but the bar section was intimate and inviting. The barkeep a personable and efficient guy. We did not sample the house distillery products and they make a myriad of cocktails with their own booze that you can explore.

The food menu had nothing new popping off the menu at me, so I went with the classic fish tacos which, as usual, were delicious. This will focus on beer tastings, from the house brews selection. Lucky road lager - easy drinking session beer. Flavorful, in a world of ho hum lagers. Wheat hits on different levels. Citrus, herbs then faint lemon peel and vanilla finish Grumpy troll is for the old man in me. Likes his pints strong and bitter, just like his soul. Tanins stay on the back of the tongue for a while. The bitter of the hops isn't over powering though and it could be the tall trees all around but it feels like I taste a bit of juniper. Copper ale, my personal favorite flavor of ale, is sweet and borders on creamy. Smooth drinking, would be great as a meal ender. Pendejo porter is a lighter porter, nice and dark. More coffee notes, less of the nutty notes. Smooth and strong. Always a staple when stopping in silver city.
