La Familia Mexican Restaurant — Restaurant in Silver City

You know how sometimes a place cannot look very appealing but still have great food? Well this wasn't one of those times. The place didn't look very impressive and the food just wasn't that good. I had menudo. Tasted like canned tripe and hominy dumped into enchilada sauce. Just weird. I'm from Tucson AZ I guess I'm just used to something different. My wife asked if their enchilada sauce was very spicy...they said they would give her the mild version. They must have got it backwards I had to eat it for her and gave her a burrito I had ordered along with the menudo instead. The milder sauce for the enchiladas was super hot but that's just it it was hot but not much flavor. Our waitress was nice but the cashier/host was not friendly at all. They denied a non customer woman and her little girl request to use the restroom as they were closing ...the place wasn't busy, the doors were still open and their bathrooms were nothing to bragg about for sure ...they had a sign inside the bathroom that said they aim to keep the bathroom clean ....uhm ....didn't look like anyone had cared about that bathroom in a long while ...and to turn a woman with a young child away did not sit well with us. Unfriendly and food not very good. When She asked me how was everything? I said "it was OK ...…just different than what I'm used to I guess"....her response was "do you want a receipt?"......no concern or question of why I commented they way I did. We visited this restaurant after scoping some land to lease out side Silver City, wife & I came exhausted, she ordered a Michilada, the very young waitress with her mask only covering her mouth said "I don't know I don't drink beer, I wanted to order 1 chicken enchilada and 1 cheese, she insisted only one, so she was offended because I couldn't understand what she was saying, she left and didn't come back, we could see her near the cash register reeling with anger, another waitress came asked if everything is alright, we tried to tell her but she didn't think we were telling the truth about our drink & food selection, so she left, another waitress came with our food we ordered, she said, you only get 1 salsa, 1/2 full and we we told only 1 salsa per meal, my wife is not too happy, so we said we will pay for another one, UGH, the group of waitresses next to the counter show casing switch blade knifes for sale, if you are looking to buy one, stared at us, I asked for more UN sweetened tea, only to get sugared tea, I a diabetic and no sugar intake says the doctor, so I got up and paid for our meal with an other waitress, No inquiry by her, as to how our experience was, Moral of the story, if you love salsa with your meal, you will need to bring your own. WE would go back for the food, but feel we wouldn't be welcome. Chive on, happy...

I am not sure who trained the front of the house, but they are unreasonable. It appears that they would rather check the square than to service a customer. I was seated. The booth seat was too soft and the top of the table was almost at my chest. So I picked up my glass and moved to an empty table next door. The waitress came back to admonish me. She said that if I wanted to move again I needed to ask permission. I said of course. I totally understand. She sat me at a small table and as she walked away I realized I I was sitting right under an AC vent. I was cold. So I walked to the counter and said do you mind if I have another table? Because this one's sitting right under the vent. Once again I was admonished. She said, I'm sorry we can't keep moving you because it messes up our rotation. It was 11:00 a.m. Besides one other family, a five top, I was the only other customer in this big restaurant, I felt she was ridiculously unreasonable. I would never recommend this place.
