A great alternative to Washington DC's hectic tidal basin cherry blossom views. No monuments, stunning water shots, or panoramic views, but you also don’t have to fight the crowds to enjoy the blossoms. Most of the cheery trees are set against the backdrop of gorgeous houses. Once inside the confines of the neighborhood, you are simply engulfed by the canopy of blossoms overhead. A wonderful experience!
A couple of drawbacks are; Parking - Signs are posted everywhere in the front yards of homes (next to the curb) that read, "No Parking. Your best bets are to park in a downtown Bethesda lot and take the Capital Crescent Trail into the neighborhood. No sidewalks once you get into the neighborhood. You have to walk in the streets to view the blossoms.
It's definitely not the same experience as the National mall, but if you are looking for a place to still see some cherry blossoms that is less crowded this is...
