Purses & Proverbs — Attraction in South Plainfield

I joined my lifelong friend for an intimate Mother's day 'Just for us 'Artisan painting session here. This adorable boutique is Black-Owned and truly serves as a safe space for decompressing and tapping into creating art. From making your own candles, to turning paper into beaded jewelry, crocheting and everything in between.

This experience was everything I didn't know I needed right at the right time.

Our gracious host Melanie was a welcomed warm ray of sunshine, wisdom and hope. I enjoyed spending time with her. Her music taste was impeccable and truly set the vibe for that unquantifiable bond Black women have when we can connect in a safe space of sistahood.

If you're looking to decompress for a few hrs, I highly recommend this place located in South Plainfield NJ.

The colors I chose were intentional from an aesthetic perspective but I didn't know the meanings...

I’m always happy to see woman of color in business! I came in thinking that learning how to crochet would be a piece of cake and for me, it was quite the opposite. However, I had a fabulous, patient instructor who explained in detail and told me to give myself GRACE! Not knowing that grace is my mantra for the start of this year. She handed me an assortment of yarn to choose from and then she decided to chose purple yarn for me. Again, not knowing that purple is my favorite color. I’m very big on energy and vibes and it was all there! Before leaving, we discussed that I would YouTube further instructions on how to make a slip knot. Thankfully, I did not need the video. I could hear her instructions in my head and was able to execute my chain. That’s how you know the teaching was great! I’m a forever grateful for finding this place and I will definitely return for more classes, to shop and/ or just for great...

Purses and Proverbs is where I go when my goal is to prioritize me. Being there is always -without a doubt-a GREAT time! Whether I am learning something totally new (like string art or decorating my own ornament with dots) or playing around with things I've always loved and wanted to do (like making candles) or just talking about the latest book club book. It's Purses and Proverbs for me! But, thankfully I'm not a selfish person. Since the classes are amazing and the teachers are phenomenal, professional and so very pleasant -the experience is beyond compare. No wonder I've taken my BFF, my sisters and my mom too. Maybe one day I'll see you there. Trust me ... once you've been there you will keep...
