So this place is extremely cumbersome to get to right now with all the construction. I would have given it a four-star rating but I wanted to bring attention to this review.
The theater is lovely and neat and clean, however, don't buy anything at the concession. It's a major rip off!!!! All I ordered was a Monster energy drink--16 oz. It was bad enough that the monster was $5 but I needed it so I rolled with it. What was astounding is that I asked for a cup of ice for my canned monster drink and it brought my total to a whopping $10.75. That is insane even for theater pricing!!!
In the future, I will stick with my Cinemark Movie Club. It's WAY better than GALAXY!!! First off, you will never pay the inconvenient online "convenience" fee because it's waived and rightly so since you're not dealing with an actual person. You can also get refunded online whereas you will need to physically show up at Galaxy an hour BEFORE YOUR MOVIE WAS SCHEDULED TO START to get your refund!!!! Cinemark Club perks well surpass Galaxy's so called "rewards" too! You will get a 20% discount on ALL concessions for you and anyone with you. (I would have NEVER have had to pay $5.75 for a cup of ice there either. It's considered a courtesy there--what a concept!) As far as popcorn goes, well Cinemark wins there too as they also offer crispy kettlecorn along with the regular salted popcorn that I can mix for a sweet and salty treat! (Not to mention you can purchase a reusable plastic bucket to use throughout the year for a small fee) You will also get one free movie per month that will continue to roll over if not used and discounted companion tickets for those family or date nights!
So bottom line . . . $10 online ticket (including the inconvenient $1.50 "covenience" fee), $5 Monster, $5.75 cup of ice totaled $20.75 for a 9:15am matinee (9:15am showing would have been considered as "early bird" at Cinemark and would have only cost $5 or $6.50). That will NOT happen again.
I'll stick to my reserved, comfy seating at the Century Summit theater for a better experience!!!!
UPDATE: The manager gave me two free anytime tickets to use because the light was on for the first 20 minutes of the movie and apparently the cashier should not have charged me for the...
Read moreThis USE to be the BEST theater in town. It maintained the best until the the IMAX at Legends opened up. Now they can't get the top movies in right away because they are at the IMAX. Some movie theater rule, and IMAX won. IMAX is shutting these guys down and it sucks. Once it is gone, IMAX will raise it's prices. I loved this theater and the way they built it reminded me of the one in Back to the Future. We haven't been here in a long time because they never have the new movies that are big, the block busters, and we only go once in a while to theaters. I am so disappointed to hear how it is running now. The ones complaining about kids and buses, hello, it's summer break and the camps are coming to the movies. The ones complaining about the fountain, it was built to be a splash pad for the kids. Why are you going to kids movies if you don't want to be around kids? The one with the mom letting her kid run all over, yeah, that would piss me off to. My kids don't even do that at home let alone a movie theater. The service, I would be angry at that too, but it doesn't surprise me since everything is changing and going down hill for that theater. Go to summit or even park lane if you want a better experience, they don't have fountains. But guess what, IMAX has a fountain for kids to run in too. So don't go there if you don't want to be around kids playing in the summer time heat. Cracked me up that they complained about the 100 degree heat and then complained about the fountain. But I promise you your experience could have been worse. They could have sent you into the wrong theater and you would have seen the last hour of a major block buster that was 2.5 hours long instead of watching it from the beginning. That happened to us at the summit Cinemark theater.
I don't know if this one can be saved thanks to the IMAX theater. But it was a great theater before then and my favorite. Sad to see it go down like this. Last time I was there, it was clean, the bathrooms were clean and the sound and picture were great and the chairs were comfortable. Food was good too and the snack bar was normal size for a...
Read moreUpdate: increased star rating to 4. I finally went back... It seems that they have made an effort to improve the climate control in the theaters. 🙏🏼 I'm not sure of this, but it appears that they have chosen to use the struggling system to not cool the common areas, but the theaters instead. Although I feel bad for the employees because it's pretty hot in the lobby and snack bar, they made the right decision to cool the areas that keep the doors open. Hopefully it will also be comfortable in the winter too. Good to be back🍿
I post this review with sadness. This is my favorite theater. I have been coming here since day one. It's the farthest theater from my house, however, I will not be back indefinitely. The climate control in thIs theater is atrocious. That is not an exaggeration. Freezing in the winter, hot in the summer. The last movie we attended was Moana 2 last Sunday. It was FREEZING EVEN WITH WINTER CLOTHING AND A BLANKET. The air conditioning was on... Cooperate take a look at the temperatures we've been having. I believe the low was in the teens that night. We and others spoke with management more than once. They tried, but said the system has needed to be replaced for years, which I can attest to and have heard for years. It was so cold in there and that was it for me. Cooperate please note, you have hands down, the best staff in town. It's not even close. But Park Lane has finally updated their seats etc, so I'm fairly certain this is already effecting your business. If you want your theater to make it, you must address this problem. It is asinine how long this has been going on. I'm just one customer who will not be back, but I guarantee you, I'm not the only one. Again, Staff you guys are the best. I hope the people up the chain can actually show some integrity and support to your place of work, as I worry that it could be in...
