We went to Rock Park for a walk with our German Shepherd, it was very hazy out due to the smoke from the Loyalton Fire, but other than the smoky haze, it was a nice walk. The grass was nice, lush, and green, the bike/walk path was clean, the riverside foliage was clean, but across the river there were evidence of homeless people having lived there -- broken beach chairs, empty coolers, and other debris scattered about in a couple places. The park rules state that dogs must be on a leash, on three different occasions, there were three different dogs not on leashes -- a pitbull, a lab mix, and a Chihuahua, rushing up to our leashed and tightly held dog. The unleashed dogs are a big problem with most parks, especially this one. People don't seem to realize their unleashed dogs can get into big trouble if a leashed dog tries to defend himself. Other than that, the river, trees, and the park are really nice, surprisingly, traffic sounds were buffered by the trees.

It's a beautiful Park and not crowded at all. There's lots of shade yet also lots of sunny areas. You and your pets can have a picnic in the grass and then sun on a rock along the calm water. Also can't forget to have some ice cream from the ice cream truck to cool you down! And then as if that's not enough, stay until sunset and it will complete your day! The beautiful colors of the sky and the slight cool breeze makes a perfect end to an amazing place.

Easy to find right after a trailer park. Rock Park is a oasis beside the river. It has a few gazebos and the normal amenities. There's a volleyball court and a children's play area. A bike path runs along the river so keep your eyes open. Though there are plenty of garbage cans there were no doggie bags for doggie do. There are the usual Pokémon Go stops and a Gym. Access to the water is gradual and there are even rocks going out into the water.

This is a really nice river park during the summer time you can find tons of families out there barbecuing and enjoying the wonderful rays of the Sun. Just remember if you go out there during summer to bring your Sun screen as you will get burn lol. During the off and cold season, When it's just a little bit warmer during mid day its a great place to bring the kids still, as it a has a play structure and plenty of Room to run around they also have a very large khazibo, that you can host family parties at its nice to see the river and enjoy The over all Decent atmosphere. There is an RV park in the same area that is very clean and has a lot of long term residence. Over all I gave this part 4 stars only do the fact that at times you can find some small unsavory types as with all cities so this is to be expected in a location that is a bit more secluded. None of which have ever been a burden or problem while visiting this park with my own family, I would highly suggest it if you're looking for a mix of enjoying the outdoors as an adult while still catering to your kids.

Sincerely written, The sugar plum...

Rock park is a nice place to go relax and enjoy the river. It use to be a lot nicer until the city of sparks allowed homeless bums to over run the park. And I say allowed because the special SPD homeless task force does absolutely nothing about the problem. There are beat down, and broke down cars, rvs, and trailers parked all over the park leaving little places to park without parking next to person living in their car. This problem is only getting worse and like I said the city of sparks is doing nothing about it. Should be...
