Sunday afternoon in Spokane and my husband and I were hungry! We didn't want to go downtown to eat because we thought it would be busy and didn't want to pay for parking so we decided to try Elk Public House. It was recommended by a local who is also a colleague of mine. We arrived at around 1:15 and the place was crowded. Luckily we were able to find a booth right away. The vibe was good with football games being played on the TVs. There was a large bar area and lots of seating. The service was a bit slow and it took about 5 minutes to actually be able to put our order in.The menu had some good options for my salad craving along with sandwich options, soups, wraps and entrees. They had a nice selection of beers, wines and cocktails too! My colleague recommended the Santa Fe Chicken Sandwich so my husband and I ordered that to share along with a whole order of the Southwestern Taco Salad. We didn't add any protein to it, which is extra and it might have made the salad a bit heartier. We both ordered waters to drink and my hubby ordered the No Li Wrecking Ball Stout which he said was good. The food took a bit to come out but it was a busy Sunday so I get that. So for my review of the food...The sandwich was so tasty! The chicken was tender and juicy and the breading wasn't heavy nor was it greasy. It was served on a fresh brioche bun and had roasted poblanos, jack cheese, red onion, lettuce (which didn't state that on the menu but we didn't mind it) and a scrumptious honey cream cheese. We had a choice of potato chips (jalapeño, salt & vinegar, regular), potato salad or roasted corn pasta (which was recommended but my husband loves jalapeño chips so that's what we ordered). I would order this again in a heartbeat and probably try the corn pasta salad and ask for additional honey cream cheese! Our salad was enormous and a half order might have worked but I was a bit hungry (I didn't eat breakfast) so it was perfect. The salad was good (actually, just ok) and it reminded me of a salad I would get in a cafeteria. The corn was canned and the cheese tasted like shredded cheese from a bag. The chips were probably crushed no-name Doritos and the salad dressing wasn't anything spectacular. The romaine was fresh and not wilted so that part was a plus. I eat/order a ton of salads so I will disclose that I am very picky about my salads so this review may be a bit harsh for some but for those of you who aren't picky about your salads may be ok with this salad. The service wasn't the best either. Refilling our waters took awhile and we had to ask for it. Our server was not attentive to our needs in that regard and took a bit of time to come by and ask if our food was good. All in all I would definitely come back for the...

If I could leave zero stars I would. Two friends and I visited one afternoon a few weeks ago and had the worst service we have ever received. Not only we were we blatantly ignored outside we were ignored further when we moved inside hoping to get service. The host made eye contact with me several times but didn't bring us menus or acknowledge us for almost thirty minutes. Then when our waitress finally decided to come over we had been there for close to an hour. Other tables after us had their drinks drinks and orders taken before we even had water. And the blonde waitress fully committed to being rude from the get go. Took our order then came back and made us repeat it so she could write it down. Asked for appetizers before our meal, so another 30 or minutes go by and no drinks so we flag down a different waitress finally get our drinks because our waitress was just ignoring us. Then our food all comes out at once no appetizers came out ahead of time and I had ordered a cup of the gumbo never came out I'd also asked for that before my meal came and when I asked another waitress they came out with a bowl then the blonde waitress argued with me about what I had actually ordered when I ordered a cup of the gumbo as an appetizer. Then on top of all of this when we finally get our food and finish eating we are waiting yet again for at least another 30 minutes before our waitress ever comes over again. Didn't check on us once or ask us if we want our check then when we ask her for the check we are waiting for another 15 or 20 minutes we are all standing around our table at this point because we are so frustrated and we just want to leave we've been in this restaurant now for almost 3 hours. Hands down the worst experience I've ever had there which is super disappointing because we'd all enjoyed going there for years. she is costing you business and should be ashamed of how she represents your restaurant. I will not be returning nor recommending any of your establishments if these are the kind of employees working for you. The only saving grace is the food. Also never stiffed in my life before this experience. She didn't deserve a single cent with how poorly we...

This was my first time visiting Elk Public House. I was excited because I had heard many great things about the food and atmosphere and wanted a nice, relaxing date night with my boyfriend. He has been there 20 times and was looking forward to showing me one of his favorite places. Let me preface with I’m a very low key and relaxed person and enjoy a variety of different types of places-from hole-in-the-wall to 5-star. Boy, was I disappointed beyond belief tonight.

We walked in and was told it would be a 25-30 min wait to sit outside when there were 2-3 open tables. We decided to sit inside and it was fairly open. Great, it shouldn’t be too busy. Wrong. Took 10 minutes for anyone to show up and when our server shows up, he drops off a carafe of water and two glasses and walks off. Hmmmm, that’s odd. What’s your name, sir? 5 min later he arrives and drops off menus and walks away. 5 min later he arrives and what do you know, he speaks. “What drinks do you want?” When asked if a beverage is gluten-free, he says in a gruff voice, “it’s a seltzer.” Good thing he clarified that. Eye roll. 15-20 min later our drinks arrive and my can of seltzer became lonely without its glass. Again, he ghosted and came back 5-10 min later and took our order. Still don’t know his name nor haven’t received a greeting. 5-10 min later, I asked him for a pint glass and he responds, “for that?” pointing at my can. Uh, yes. He brings a dirty glass with chunks of food in it and I was done.

My boyfriend and I left cash on the table that included more than enough for our unfinished drinks and a big tip and said we are leaving due to poor service. What do you know, the man speaks! He got confrontational asking what he did causing a scene and we gave some feedback and walked out. We are now at Poole’s enjoying the patio and...

Worst waitress ever in life! My friends and I came after an art fair and wanted to enjoy some cold beer and good vibes- neither of which were had. 2 of us had beer and one had a mojito. Both beers were warm not cool but warm to the touch. We asked our waitress if they ran out of cold glasses and her response was "I'm not the bartender" we informed her the beers were too warm to drink and before we could finish she cut us off and said "well you're sitting in sun so what do you expect?!?" Both beers had only been on the table for 1-2 minutes and were both in the shade. We asked her why was mint in the mojito more brown then green her response "it's washed and again I'm not the bartender, you need to be polite" lol funny how she was the rude one. She walked away and did nothing with our piss warm beers, so I had to take them in to the bar. The bartender said she is new and doesn't know that the IPA we ordered comes out warmer than most (not sure why they would knowingly serve warm beer) and offered me another kind of IPA, I got a different one still warm but not body temp warm. Maybe if you get beer out of a bottle it would actually be cold. I ordered the crab stuffed ravioli, presentation was very nice. As you can see it only comes with like 4 raviolis for $17, I was expecting a little more than an appetizer. I also ordered a side of the corn pasta and it was bomb! That's probably the only amazing thing they have going! Well there was a cute Male waiter on the side, not sure how his service is but he is easy on the eyes! The chances of me coming back here are slim, unless I just call in an order of the corn pasta to go. The poor service was really a turn off, she should've just replaced our beers not given us attitude.

Out of town traveling, I needed a quick, yet non-fastfood location to eat. I had been on a plane and travelled all day. I wanted something nice to eat, but had to get driving again. Plus it was late, so this place came up and checked the boxes. I mostly followed the ratings. This is a classic bar food location, but has some hidden surprises on the menu. I found this Korean pork bowl, and sounded good, yet totally out of bounds for the location. Location. Bar with decent street parking, and plenty of outdoor seating, plus tons of indoor seating, so as you choose. Atmosphere. It's a bar. It's as expected. Service. Super kind, incredibly smiled gal waited on me at the bar. She recommended the bowl I found, so that helped me take the plunge. Food. You know by now what I ordered. Listen, I've eaten Asian food literally all over the world. I lived in Japan for 5 years. I've been to very major capital in Asia, and this was good. It was really a tad of a fusion of Japanese and Korean, but it was really good. I was so surprised. Was it "authentic," nah. It was a bar version, by what's likely a talented, adventurous chef. But it was straight up good, with ton's of flavor and even a little fire (spicy). I really enjoyed it. Bottom-line for me always is, would I go again. Yes, indeed I would. There was one other item that caught my attention (some fusion taco I believe), but I may go for the Korean pork bowl again. Not to mention I'd love to see that smile again ;) Not a ton of good options in Spokane. Thanks the Elk!
