This gym looks nice on the way in, but it gets worse as you go, and at least 2x the price of many others. If you don't play basketball or use the pool area, I think it's not worth the price.
There are a lot of machines broken ALL THE TIME! When things break they dont get fixed for a very long time. For at least 6 months the stationary bikes only had 1 out of 8 that worked. Now they got rid of one, and there are only 7 left and maybe 3 that work properly.
Ceiling drips water and leaves puddles everywhere. They'll put a wet floor sign and a garbage can, but they dont have enough for all the leaks. The AC sounds like it needs to be oiled or something and is extremely loud in certain areas, like you'll wish you had ear plugs or headphones to block out the annoying screeching.
There are 2 floors, but everything is sort of jammed into one area. They have enough space for more equipment, but it's still lacking and you'll be waiting for things like leg extensions because there is only one. Same with shoulder/pec deck, and others.
Some idiot thought it would be a good idea to put the deadlift racks 5 or 6 feet behind the treadmills. So if you're on a treadmill, you'll have your back turned to loud aggressive constant droppings of barbells weighing hundreds of pounds a few feet behind you and feeling the floor shake. Good luck if you have anxiety!
If you do classes in the aerobic room, don't be surprised when you show up to class and there is no instructor. They frequently cancel classes and don't notify you.
They don't have enough cleaning people and it can be pretty messy (garbage, wet floors, dirty bathrooms, etc).
Weights and various lifting bars are frequently scattered all over the place because many people do not re-rack or return equipment to the proper place.
10 or 15 minutes before they close, they turn off all the lights without warning. It's dangerous and can also sometimes be hard to find things like your phone or keys.
If there is a problem with anything, the staff mostly doesn't care and says it's not their job. There is no one monitoring the gym floor, so pretty much anything goes- I've seen people walking around without shirts, people fighting, people playing loud boom boxes, and just about anything else you can think of. Seems like there is a completely new staff every month or two, so obviously they aren't exactly concerned about their jobs or quality of work. They are generally nice people, but just don't really do anything besides sit there.
The pool area is decent with sauna, steam room, hot tub. Pool area doesn't seem ventilated enough (if at all) and it irritates my lungs. It's been bad enough that i stopped using this area all together. Sometimes drain flies are also an issue there...
Read moreI had to change my rating. I went to the gym this morning and I was exercising on the turf area. An employee ( seemed to be a personal trainer who I can describe as a guy with dreads ) that was there came to me and asked me to move. I told him I wasn't because I was exercising there and he tells me that he is just going to exercise on me then. He was forcing me to move. He asked me though and I chose not to move. Unfortunately this is not the first incident with this person. A few weeks ago he asked me to move and I did move although I was a bit aggravated after that, but he also seemed forceful then too by being aggressive towards me. Others and myself can't just utilize a little piece of the turf when I'm there sometimes. That employee ( personal trainer) occupies the whole turf sometimes. I understand he has to do his job , but it shouldn't be at the expense of other members. If this type of attitude continues , I will discontinue with this membership.
What's also sad is the cleanliness of this gym is always bad like trash everywhere especially in the bathroom , toilets dirty and one toilet don't flush.
Most of the staff just sit or stand not paying attention and/or on their phone , eating , talking amongst each other when people walk in the entrance. I just walk in , scan my phone to check in and go.Some people would like a greeting to know they are welcome and keep that customer's business. Some staff are disrespectful and use profanity.
My opinion is 24 Hour Fitness looks at it like people are desperate for this type of gym that offers the amenities it has at a good price so they don't have to maintain it or treat people right to keep business with their customers. Because the customers need the gym.
Update Dec 16 2023 - So there was a time change that alot of members didn't get informed about. And apparently the staff left the entrance door open overnight. So members were going in at 6 AM unaware of the time change. Then a little later before 8 AM , those members were forced out and were forced to come back at 8 AM which is the new hour of the gym opening on Saturday. No flyers , notices , word from staff , etc were around the gym to inform members of this change. It just happened.
Staff is very unpleasant and I think they are becoming toxic. The staff doesn't respect people and expect members to talk to them a certain way. They don't care for the cleanliness of the gym. If the gym opens first thing in the morning , it should be clean and not dirty. It seems 24 Hour Fitness is no longer investing much in their...
