Krispy Kreme — Restaurant in Springfield

Update: I love Krispy Kreme and wish it wasn't a 30 minute drive but perhaps it's just enough of a deterrent so it's not a weekly trip haha. At the end of the night they still had a decent variety. And, best of all, they all still tasted fresh (unlike end of the night Dunkin lol). If you haven't had Krispy Kreme, I'd recommend it! Sooo this was my first "true" Krispy Kreme experience where I went in myself and picked out my own doughnuts. I had no idea they offered so many varieties (I always thought they just had typical ones like glazed, boston cream, etc).

This location was absolutely huge and definitely would be a fun date night dessert spot outside of a pandemic. They even had what looked like a birthday party room, wow. There is also a clear window to view the doughnuts being freshly made by a giant conveyor belt like system.

There are more varieties inside than on of the app but the app allows you to order ahead if there is a line. They only allow six in at a time (which I thought was silly considering how huge the space is) but okay, I get it, safety first. Some people were REALLY cold outside so I think it made for some disgruntled customers haha. By the time I left, the line was much longer outside than when I had arrived.

I ordered two mini doughnut four pack specials and a dozen of some I picked from the display. I dropped some off to friends and family so I didn't try them all haha. My husband and I kept six to cut up and try at home and boy they did not disappoint.

I'm a huge fan of yeast based (rather than cake based) doughnuts and these were yummy! They are indeed very sweet, however, if you are sampling a bite or two of each (I cut mine into quarters) it's not a huge deal. I tried the salted caramel, oreo, glazed, chocolate frosted, lemon, dulce de leche. I think my favorite were the lemon and the dulce de leche. The yeast doughnut texture was on point though.

I will say the cashier was not very friendly. His tone was very condescending and acted as if he was doing me a favor somehow? Though I was tempted to respond back I decided to respond back friendlier and more courteously than he did. He wasn't open to answering many of my questions either (since it was my first time I didn't understand how the specials worked). But, whatever, I got my doughnuts regardless. This is why this experience is getting a four star rather than a five star review.

Price wise I'd say the doughnuts were a bit more expensive than I expected but I think considering their decent size and relative freshness (made on premise) I'm fine with it. I'll be coming back but hopefully I'll get...

My husband and I went this Krispy Kreme to get the Total Eclipse Doughnuts. We were politely choosing our doughnuts. We said please and thank you several times. We bought a dozen: 2 Sea Salted Caramel, 2 Cinnamon Apple Filled, 2 Glazed Lemon, 2 Glazed Raspberry, 4 Total Eclipse Doughnuts! The young teenager at the register # 111 on 4/7/2024 at 1:43pm check # 10125 rang up my order and I paid $26.33 for one dozen donuts( the Eclipse Donuts were $2.20 extra). My husband and I are Seniors! I wear glasses! Is it a PROBLEM FOR YOUR YOUNG STAFF TO SERVE ALL KINDS IF CUSTOMERS!! I got home and saw where it should have rung up 2 Sea Salted Caramel donuts, INSTEAD THE TEENAGER DECIDES TO TYPE IN “ FUN FACE “ !! IS THAT KRISPY KREMES POLICY TO INSULT CUSTOMERS BY TYPING ON THE RECEIPTS STUPID PERSONAL COMMENTS!! Buyer be aware- this Krispy Kreme location are not training their staff properly or they just like to insult customers for the FUN of it! My friend and i went here last night. We were helped by a lady and my friend made an honest human mistake of mixing up the chocolate donut with the chocolate glaze especially because we had a super long day and we were exhausted. He realized he made a mistake after he was given the donut and he said “Oh i’m so sorry i meant the glaze not this one” and continued to apologize once again. The lady responded by saying “That is your own retardedness. That’s your fault. That is your retardedness that did that.” Then she grabs the glazed donut and hands it to him while then saying “Next time leave your retardedness outside the door before ordering”. Never, have i ever experienced such absolute disrespect. We both were caught completely off guard, didn’t know how to react or what to say.
