PLEASE BE ADVISED THIS PLACE "DOES NOT" HAVE LIGHTS AND IS THEREFORE UNSAFE AT NIGHT. PEOPLE TRIED TO ROB/MURDER ME HERE Google Maps led me through here at 7:25pm as I had to bike to East Longmeadow. The path has no lights along the entire walkway yet there is no closed signs or set times of operation. The trail eventually leads to a fork near Liberty St if you take a left, not sure where it leads when you are straight. If I didn't use my flashlight on my phone to navigate on my bike I would not have been able to escape the people who tried to rob me, there is not enough light to make out an exit (I had to follow the headlights from cars near the underside of the highway with my flashlight on.) The path is a fair distance away from the main street, right at the fork a man with a dog proceeded to chase me ordering me to stop, I took off on my bike but the chase lasted a very long 45 seconds. The road was so distant from this point that I would have been killed without witnesses if I wasn't fast enough. Also, leaving the trail, right after the railroad crossing spits you right out under the highway which happened to have a lot of traffic this day. I flew into the right lane fleeing these people are was almost hit by a car. PLEASE BE ADVISED THIS PLACE "DOES NOT" HAVE LIGHTS AND IS THEREFORE UNSAFE AT NIGHT. PEOPLE TRIED TO...
Read moreThis place has so much potential to become a fun place to be! I can visualize food vendor trucks, local bands, etc even borrowing from Providence RI water fire shows. However what I saw was drugs, drinking, and unsavory looking characters lurking around.(This was evening into nighttime hours.)although there was a police presence there was not enough activity to keep the nonsense away. I think to make this spot live up to its potential the city must put the fire water shows on, hire the bands, allow the food and beer trucks and then invite the public with massive advertising. Residents of Western Mass would support it! It’s more convenient than driving to Boston, Providence and Hartford. The undesirable elements will then vacate. Of note it would really be nice to have more dwelling places become available in the city, it will eliminate most of the problems of this beautiful spot. And bring in the visitors and revenue the...
