I am a 60 year old woman who took my 27 year old niece and 4 year old grand nephew to The Amazing World of Dr. Seuss Museum. We went on 8/7/23 and got there around 10:30. It was just over an hour drive and it was very cloudy. There were a few people there but we were able to move around comfortably and take many picture ops. Luke was in heaven. He didn't know where he wanted to go. The rooms were on the smaller side so he could concentrate on a few things at once. We went from room to room and experienced Dr. Seuss characters from the days of old. It was fun for all. When we were leaving 3 hours later, it was much more crowded. We went at the right time, and stayed on the right path. The top floor (not really for children) had memories from Ted Guisse's childhood, growing up and manuscripts and memorabilia from his writings. There was one thing we were disappointed with I hate to admit. The gift shop was severely lacking in the amount of merchandise at reasonable price to get for the children. I was also hoping for an adult size grinch apron when they only carried child sizes. Full disclosure, the shop supplied gifts for five museums so I guess something had to give. OVERALL, it was a super day! Well worth the admission that also included 4 other museums and the outdoor DR. Seuss...
Read moreMy daughter 4 has a great time every time we go to the Dr Seuss building. I wanna give that a 4-5 stars. This time due to Covid the hands on exhibits were shut down which is understandable. The other exhibits need to be renovated big time keep the T-Rex dinosaur section but a lot of the other exhibits are very outdated. The one exhibit they seem to change is where the minerals are. They have a moving exhibit that was not open. Currently they're renovating the planetarium which was small and outdated. Can't wait to see what they do with it! They need more hands on exhibits for all ages. A lot of wasted unused space. The art & sculpture museum is nice but very boring for kids, they have a spot for kids to do art projects of the week in the sculpture museum but that's about it. Today was very uncomfortable they actually followed us in the sculpture and art museum. I'm giving 3 starts bc it's seriously outdated and... The gift shop is extremely over priced. Every time we go there the prices are higher. Also, very crowded with things that haven't sold in I can't tell you how long!!! Some of the older woman that work in the gift shop are unpleasant. If you're not a resident of Springfield the admission is over priced as well for what...
Read moreMy husband, my parents, and my 13 & 3 year old all enjoyed an afternoon here and we had a lot of fun. The ticket prices were affordable and there was a lot to see. There are several interactive areas for the kids the learn and explore Dr.Suess and his wild imagination. There are also several items of the late Dr.Suess that were really cool to see. There was another building for kids across the street from the Dr.Suess museum that has several more activity filled rooms for the kids to play with and just have lots of energy fueled fun!
We went in January so the weather was not the best to be outside for any length of time but the outdoor sculptures were amazing and we look forward to going back once it’s warmer to really spend time exploring the outside areas here.
They do have a restaurant on the same grounds as the museum but make sure to check their hours because they are only open at certain times and closed between lunch and dinner(at least this was the case when we went). So we ended up eating somewhere on the drive home.
Great place to spend a day out with the family or friends, especially if you like green...
