A few years ago we stayed there a couple nights and seems like everything was closed and there was nothing to do and the place was completely empty there were barely anybody there and then the food court we have a voucher thing and they gave us a hard time but the main problem is that the machines seemed to pay out poorly the only other casino live recognizes that was the one in Tampa Florida which is a hard Rock casino but it seems like the odds of winning were the same as that place compared to Mohegan are foxwoods and others and I went there on opening night but you was overpacked and just feel the places that is cozier I don't know I can't pinpoint what it is but I have been there since day one I stayed there a couple nights I have my card and my girlfriend came into town and we went there with an Uber and it was night and Uber driver said that the later it gets the more expensive the right to get cuz we were not used to or familiar with Uber but he gave us his number and to try to give him a call and see if he's available when we were ready to go home and we got there around 11:30 p.m. once again there were no customers a place like empty, playing slots and cards for 2 or 3 hrs and we went outside for a smoke and once we returned inside there was the same people working just standing there cuz there was no one in the place that seamless walk out and talk to us and yes we are having a good time and so we went to enter and they said we need to see your ID and I'm disabled driver's license identification is expired. And even though we've been there for hours and we're getting ready to go eat at the food court we were told that we had to go home and that we could not return back in I'm now 46 years old and look older than my age and the place was empty and we are going to the food court to get food and on our way out we made a comment that we couldn't find someone to get a drink which we had no problem paying for it but we tried several times to get someone that work there to get somebody and they said they would send somebody over and each time nobody returned. And it's odd because the place was empty it was so dead it was a Tuesday night and I just don't understand that I was not allowed back in and they didn't serve drinks with no customers so there was no excuse and I've been a bartender and a bar manager for years through restaurants and catering for all kinds of events can I seen several employees going in and out of a room and serving cocktails but they just did not come over to us and so therefore we only had one drink that night and we went to the bar to get it and found some manager guy standing by the card games and told him about the situation and when we went outside to smoke until 3 minutes later that we could not returnand we had to go home when my friend was from down south and I said my ID is expired I'm not even going to be playing anymore I'm disabled and we want to eat something and let her play a little more and then get her Uber home but if we got an Uber now and you're not get to eat then this is making it very inconvenient can we ask for them to get the manager the gentleman I spoke to earlier about not being able to get a drink and I hate complaining but it was just kind of over the top ridiculous so when the manager came over he said oh this is not my department I don't have to say you have to talk to these ladies over there which were the ladies who said they were ending their shift and printed me out a new card when I had arrived before midnight when they started doing ID checks and did Master my ID or anything and printed me out a new game card we've stayed there overnight a couple times and we were there on the first night that it opened so we have our membership and they were leaving and I said we can't return back in and she said I'm sorry that's the law it's not up to us it's like a federal or state law but I've already been here for hours an I'm not gambling anymore we're just going to get food and walk around and they set the only thing you can do is get food to...
Read moreWe stayed here for 3 nights from Friday September 27th to Monday October 30th 2024. We came from Montreal, Canada primarily to visit The Big E fair in town and wanted to enjoy a Vegas style experience at this hotel.
The MGM is located downtown, easy to get to and features lots of free multi-level parking. We were impressed with the size of this place right away. There are 7 or 8 floors of parking so never any issue finding a spot even on the busiest weekends.
The walk from the parking elevators to the main lobby of the hotel can be a bit far once you have parked, if you have a lot of luggage I would recommend having someone drop you closer to the entrance first. Once you've entered the hotel, you're immersed into the casino. The whole main floor is dedicated to this, there are also couple restaurants and boutiques, like a gift shop and jeweler. The hotel feels classy, very elegant, yet stylish and fun. I loved the whole decor.
We were able to check ourselves in through the MGM mobile app ahead of time, this offers a virtual key if you don't feel like waiting in line, you can still ask for a physical key card if needed.
We stayed in room 251 which is on the second floor and has 2 queen beds. The room isn't huge but does offer very tall ceilings, at least 15 feet? Everything felt spacious despite the room being advertised as 354 square feet. The bathroom is quite big, large shower with a rain shower type fixture. I was very happy with the water pressure - honestly one of the best shower experiences I've had in a hotel in a while. However the sink faucet is water saving, it's been adapted to have only a light sprinkle of water unlike a regular faucet. The built in ammenities, like shower, conditioner, shower gel, hand soap and hand lotion felt high end. Note, they do not offer any bar soap, I brought my own, but the shower had no ledge or anything buil in to place a bar of soap or additional bottle so ended up having to leave it on the shower floor. This seems like a design flaw.
The beds were comfortable, not sunken in. The AC was working beautifully. The entire decor, fixtures and state of the room was in pristine condition. Our room has big windows facing Main street along with blackout curtains - this can be a bit loud at night, we often heard motorcycles or cars blaring music but it died down once we actually went to bed after 10PM. The hotel does offer earplugs, these were on the nightstand when we arrived. Nice touch.
In terms of entertainment options, the casino is loads of fun, we had a great time, enjoyed the self-serve resfreshments, Coke freestyle machines and complimentary drinks. There is a movie theater, small bowling alley and even an indoor golf type experience. I would strongly suggest browsing through the MGM site to find out about all available options and hours of operation. Not everything is open during weekdays.
The only things that would have made this experience even better is some type of buffet on site - sadly there is no complimentary breakfast option or any dinner buffet restaurant at this hotel. If you compare this to Vegas or Atlantic City, it is lacking. Also having a mini fridge in the room would be great. You can rent one for a charge of about $25 a day, but that did not seem worth it.
In all, I really enjoyed my experience, MGM is the ideal place to stay if you want some entertainment and a bit more glitz and glam compared to a regular hotel. The overall vibe was luxurious and it truly felt like a vacation even if it was just a...
Read moreMy partner (a platinum member) and I arrived Sunday night to stay through Tuesday morning. We have been traveling from CT(our home state) down to Virginia and back due to a family member passing.
On Tuesday, my partner left early in the morning and let them know that I would be staying in the room until 2pm and paying for a late check-out. The receptionist said this would not be an issue at all. At 11:15am, I heard banging. The walls are extremely thin on all floors of the hotel so I was unsure if it was my door or not so I called out “hello?” and got no response so I assumed it was a different door. I was in the middle of getting ready and packing up and was also on the phone. A minute or so later, there was more banging, much louder this time. I made my way to the door and didn’t make it before more aggressive banging ensued. I finally got to the door and was quite frustrated. Without opening the door, I yelled (to ensure I was heard) “can i help you?” I looked through the peep hole and saw a short woman in a housekeeping vest. She said “housekeeping” and I quickly responded, “my do not disturb button is on and I am busy” and she rudely said “checkout is 11am, are you leaving?” and I responded, “we have extended check out, the front desk is aware.” Her response to this is what aggravated me the most of she had a horrible attitude and said “ohhhh extended checkout, ok well I guess I will come back to check in later.” Within minutes of this interaction through the door, as I attempted to step into the shower, the phone started ringing. I rushed to get over to it and when I picked up, I heard breathing and then click. Obviously this was an extremely frustrating experience so my partner had to step outside of his work to call the receptionist, who then had to put him on hold to “check with the earlier receptionist to verify” and this woman basically told him that the earlier receptionist put a note in the wrong spot and so housekeeping wasn’t made aware. My partner made it clear that their lack of communication between their staff members had been quite an inconvenience. The receptionist was apologetic and offered us that night free even though we weren’t originally going to be staying Tuesday night. They checked us out for the previous two nights and then in for the free night. We got to the new room and the bathroom was dirty. I’m unsure if housekeeping just forgot about the bathroom because everything else was pretty clean. I attached photos of what appears to be dried coffee and coffee beans all over the bathroom sink as well as a previous guest’s strands of hair. We ultimately couldn’t be bothered to get a new room after all of the previous hassle so we stayed in the room and I used one of our clean towels to wipe up the area. They told us we had to check out by 12pm on Wednesday and as I exited the room at 11:55am, the cleaning cart was already parked partially in front of our door. Apparently, housekeeping is eager to do a mediocre job again.
Overall, housekeeping was the worst aspect of this stay from their unprofessionalism to their inability to fully do their job. We stay here frequently and our experiences have gone downhill over the past year and it’s really unfortunate because we...
