This place was absolutely amazing. Growing up my family owned and managed an Italian restaurant and it was one of my favorite places. It spoiled me, to the point where I just never was satisfied at most of the Italian places I went to. We were visiting Mass and someone recommended this place to us so we decided "Let's try it".
To be honest, I walked in expecting a normal pizzeria experience, and as soon as I turned the corner from the back doorway I was amazed. The first thing that hit me was the smell. It smelled AMAZING and brought back a lot of memories. The environment was great. From the wooden tables and chairs to the chandelier and much more. Everything was set up for a great experience.
When we sat down we ordered the garlic bread with cheese. This was different than my memories b/c we used to do Garlic knots with melted butter/garlic sauce and marinara but it was the closest thing and it DID NOT disappoint. As soon as it came out you could tell it was fresh. The spices on it, and the toast crunch were perfect. It tasted great.
I asked the server which they preferred, Pizza or Pasta and he was amazing and let me know the pizza is made fresh in-house. The pasta is homemade as well but the pasta is actually made from the sister company up the road and then transported to the restaurant. Sounds great, both are freshly made and not store-bought. I decided to try the pizza first. I was a little disappointed that I couldn't get something like my usual pizza (BBQ base, with chicken, bacon, peppers, onions, jalapeno, pineapple) but I went with the Hawaiian. The server was excellent and let me know that's not a "traditional Hawaiian" and doesn't have the pizza sauce on it. I tried it anyway and while I do think it would be better with the pizza sauce, it wasn't bad and still had a really good taste to it.
The next night, we had the pasta ordered and delivered to our hotel (just b/c of the wait time and we had to get ready to travel back the following morning). Once again, it did NOT disappoint. The taste was absolutely amazing and just what I had been missing and craving. It wasn't the cheap, nasty, watered-down alfredo sauce you get at the chain restaurants. It was a delicious, seasoned, thick sauce that went very well with the chicken, noodles, and broccoli.
So basically, what I am saying is: GO! RUN TO THIS PLACE! You will not be disappointed. Just don't go in expecting it to be quick all the time. Remember they make things FRESH. Give them time, let them work and you won't be disappointed.
I almost never do a 10/10 so this place is definitely a 9.8/10. I'll give you the extra .2 points if you open a shop in South Carolina OR you find a way to deliver...
Read moreMy boyfriend and I dined here on Friday September 27th, around 7 or 8 PM. We were staying at the MGM hotel right next door so it was super convenient to come out and eat. I looked up this place online prior to coming and it had glowing reviews - seemed like an established business in the area for a while. Lots of options, can't go wrong with Italian American food. When we arrived the place was bustling, we were seated promptly and served bread and butter. The bread was moist and delicious.
We know this place specializess in pizza but opted for 2 pasta dishes, the tortellini alfredo and marsala chicken and ziti. The food took a while to arrive, the restaurant seemed so busy.
Unfortunately maybe we should have stuck with pizza as the pastas very disappointing. My alfredo sauce was pretty much just cream, it did not taste cheesy. The tortelini was slightly over cooked, it seemed like just the frozen kind. The marsala chicken was a joke - it frozen breaded chicken nuggets covered in a watery sauce with a hint of wine flavor. The dish looked extremely odd. We were expecting a chicken breast, or maybe sliced up chicken, but the chunks we got were off putting.
These dishes really did not look homemade, and for the price, it was not worth it. They did come with house salads which were very tasty, but the pastas were almost inedible. Once we were ready to pay and leave, we did tell our server that we did not like the meal but she did not offer to give us any kind of credit or ask what was wrong. They seemed too busy to care.
I really wanted to like this place but felt like I wasted my money and landed in a tourist trap of sorts. The old school vibe, location and menu options are very appealing - perhaps we just picked the wrong plates as many other families sitting next to us seemed to enjoying...
Read moreSo first I would like to say I'm a shoreline CT native and grew up on New Haven style pizza. With that being said Red Rose Pizzeria is not like New Haven Pizza and that usually is a bad thing but I was pleasantly surprised with thier pizza. For the pizza alone I would give it a 8.5 out of 10. For the Springfield area its probably one of the best, if not the best, dine in pizza spots around that I have tasted. Thier sauce is solid and cheese pull is lovely. They utilize the box square cut style pizza which for me I'm not a big fan of as I love the traditional triangle cut but the box cut is the standard for the area and it does come to be more practical when feeding a family. This restaraunt is a must to sit down and dine in as eating pizza there the pizza comes out nice and hot creating a great taste for the melted mozarella. Eating take out the pizza does lose abit of appeal and does not taste as great as the dine in but really not by much as I would still order take out if need be. There parking is not great and always so far been there 4 times and the parking lot is always full so thats abit annoying. Will also mention thier salad is fresh with great olives but beware a house salad served for 2 can feed a family of 5. Service is friendly and they have a good system of operations for the amount of human traffic that comes in. This is a great restarauant for a casual anytime feel. Downside is that its always packed so seating in the middle of the restaraunt doesn't give the best feel but if able staff is willing to accomadate your preference as needed. I look forward to returning and actually exploring more of thier menu, but thats only if I can tear myself away from ordering pizza...
