We stopped to look at this park when we were visiting from out of town. Discovered it is just a neighborhood park in a low-rent part of town. The friendly group gathered under the pavilion offered us some beer, but we got the impression they don't see a lot of white people there. The park looks rather neglected. There was trash around the lake, and not much scenery to enjoy. Geese were protecting their babies, and didn't want people around, so we didn't stay long.

Loaded with garbage bicycles and grocery carts Springfield really needs to clean up their parks and take out the trash... this is supposed to be Illinois capital what a joke...

The geese can be a bit of a nuisance and the people drinking and smoking in the area. However, during early spring, there are some delightful sights to behold, including red-winged blackbirds, turtles, and crayfish. If you're into fishing, you're in luck as the pond offers fast bluegill and catfish. Additionally, there's a convenient drinking fountain for pets.

While there aren't any restrooms, on-site, you can easily head across the street to Hardee's . The pavilion is equipped with electrical plug-ins that actually work well for charging electronics or playing music, making it a practical space. Just note that there are no barbecue grills available, so plan accordingly for your...

It's a dump.

No literally; there is garbage everywhere. Discarded tires on the banks of the "lake", which is a filthy pond. It doesn't even feel like a park at all, it's basically the back 40 of the appartment complex. Got the "you don't belong here" vibe from the people there hanging out in the parking lot. Won't make that...
