Take your business elsewhere, the owner is very unprofessional and untrustworthy. Owner was pitching his stuff to me at a gem show and excited to tell me about some wholesale product he offered me to purchase (note that I didn't asked to make this order, he offered and I took him up on it to support a fellow small business.) He was initially very kind and communicative. However, he never seemed to follow thru with any promises and when I would (gently) follow up to check on progress, he always had an excuse as to why it wasn't started, and requested more time. Of course, I am a reasonable human and understand that things happen, so was very patient and allowed him to extend the deadline several times... in fact, our message exchange continued for over 10 months until I finally asked him if it would be easier on him to just forget about the order, but at that time he insisted that he just finished some of the order and also said he was attaching photos. Well, the photos never came thru, so when I asked him a few days later to re-send the missing photos, HE BLOCKED ME, hahaha. I would have been fine with him telling me he simply wasn't able to complete the job, but instead of handling it like a responsible businessperson and saying "sorry, can't do it" (even when given an out to do so), he strung me along for months and then blocked me with no response or closure to the conversation at all. Irresponsible in so many ways. I wish you lots of luck keeping the joint open. EDIT: the owner may claim in his responses that this review is not real, but I can guarantee you I am a real person, my experience and this review are both 100% real. I have the screenshots of the entire correspondence to prove it, and I would rather not post them here, but will if he insists on denying my review as authentic and denying this happened. You can choose to continue being defensive in your response, or easily hit me up on FB Messenger and make this right. You know exactly where to find me. Rock Candy is a small rock shop with some inexpensive, and loads of overpriced merchandise. The owner/manager isn't even there most of the time. You have to call him and let him know you are wanting to get in. He told us he'd be there in 5 minites, but it took him about half an hour. He claimed to have been running errands, but the people in the surrounding shops say he is rarely there.

Most of the rocks are of poor to decent quality. As expected, the inexpensive rocks are of poor quality, but the decent rocks are priced as though they were of a much higher quality than they are. I've been a rock hound for 40 plus years, and doubt I'll be returning to this rock shop. I'll continue to do my shopping at the Rock and Mineral shows that come to a variety of locations in the central Illinois area each year. Like the one at the State Fairgrounds the third weekend in October. Or others in Decatur or Quincy, or even Alton in March or April. I was so excited to have finally found this place. We are from East Peoria, IL and drove to Springfield on Saturday. I've had this place on my bucket list for 2 years. Well I'm sorry but I wasn't impressed. First off the gal was burning some kind of incense that smelled like smudge sticks. I smudge at home sometimes and it doesn't smell awesome as some people think. Anyway, my friend said he couldn't handle it and thought he'd have to wait in the car for me because his eyes were burning and he started to cough. It did smell horrible. NagChampa would have been a better choice than whatever she was burning. Anyway I was surprised by how vacant the store looked. On the website pictures it looked like it would be packed with all kinds of cool stuff. But that was far from the truth. Didn't buy anything at all. Had to leave fast because of that incense.
