I have a lot of nostalgia for Granite City Comics, I remember when it opened and I finally had a comic store to go to as a kid whenever my family visited St. Cloud. I recently went back after a 10+ year absence and I have to stay it's stayed much the same in all the good ways. They have a very large New Release wall with the major brands represented as well as a good selection of indy brands. The back issues were good with a few obscure titles for good prices but no Howard the Duck. They had some Cards Against Humanity which was greatly appreciated and a few gaming brands represented, mostly Heroclix. Where the store really excelled though was in the Trade Paperbacks (all bagged which was appreciated),and I found several hard to find newer TPB's that I've been looking for. The other thing I noticed was the high end back issues they had including some very rare, and expensive, first appearances/landmark issues. If you're looking to collect some important milestones, and you have the money, this is a good...
Read moreWith the MCU fandom going on I decided to go straight to the source and what a better place to start than your local comic book store. How fortunate I was to have such a top notch store at my disposal. It can be intimidating at first not knowing where to start. It's like walking through a door into room full of doors... BUT, the staff helped ease me into the process by being available for ANY and All my questions and concerns. That credit clearly goes to Tim (owner) and his passion for all my "nerd" needs. I do want to point out that once you find a comic book story/character your into you'll most certainly want to get some back issues. Tim has a ton of back issues to help you immerse yourself into a storyline... AND if he is missing an issue he WILL get you what your looking for. In conclusion, it's worth repeating, we are fortunate to have such a top notch comic book store in the St. Cloud area for all our...
Read moreWhen I was getting back into comics, I went to all the comic shops within a reasonable distance from me. I went to a lot of shops in the cities and thought I'd give the st cloud shop a try. As soon as I walked in, I was greeted warmly and offered help if I needed it. I immediately felt that this was the place for me. It felt personal how the owner and other employees were so welcoming and friendly. I've now been going regularly for 14 years (I think). They will help you find something and if they don't have it, they'll try to find it. I have met some incredible people by going to this shop. I'm grateful to have been able to meet Tim, Jay, Brandon, and others in my escapades through the years coming here. Thanks everyone for making me feel welcome...
