We were greeted by a friendly staff and offered a cold beer. I loved it already. Lots of cool German knickknacks to purchase along the wall with jars of mustards, red cabbage, and pickles. The meat counters were filled with plenty of German deli wurst and homemade sausage. We purchased some of both. The beer brats were irresistible, and I had to have some landjagers. A landjager never made it out of the parking lot. So tasty! It's busy with folks in and out constantly.

G&W meats is the best store for sausage. Their Weisswurst is amazing and I recommend it to anyone going there. It is by far the best meat store in the area, and definitely worth the drive if you live far away. They even have a section where you can buy treats for your pets.

They are super nice! Made a bunch of brats and sausage out of a deer my son shot. When we realized the second deer was way too much meat they said they could just donate it to a food bank. Easy to deal with and friendly. This is the deer brat chili I made. Delish.

Unfortunate to give 3 stars, but things are getting sad. Used to stop several times/week for the last several years. Now its once, maybe twice/month. Aka, last time Gerhardt worked to current. Multiple reviews speak of declining product quality, yet "the same old recipe" reply is used, repeatedly. How many different employees "chefs" have made that product in the last 3 years? A dozen plus? Makes a HUGE difference. I specifcally recall the new owners son changing the grind for several products because 'he knew better', resulting in numerous complaints/change of employment status for him. Publicly acknowledged by ownership, nope! Just like having a person who can order beef primals and operate a saw can make the side counter look amazing with steaks cut to order, smoked pork loin cuts etc vs the melting cat food looking meatballs in an otherwise empty case when I stopped in mid-day a few days back. I distinctly recall hearing Frank request standarzing recipies for such items. Guessing that never happened. Also remember hearing Ashley advocate against the $10/lb bacon price, I know your wholesale price from Winnemans, not quoting here, but really? C'mon, funny it was raised and lowered back a year ago and recently raised back up and now you cant even see what you are getting or get the amount you want because its prepacked vs prepped per order. I want to be able to get 4 slices of peppered bacon, not a pound. Recently stopped at LeGrands and noticed they also sell your Landjeager, for $4/lb LESS than you do. World Market in Brentwood has the same German products 30% less. I like your business but I'm sorry to say the quality and selection is down while prices are substantially more than other shops selling the EXACT same product. The 50cents free beer gimmick has worn off. Shoot, 1 beef hotdog (aka bologna) is $2+. Good, yes. Worth the price of two .89cent '10 packs' of hotdogs from aldi (20dogs, 10meals), nope. I'd love to be back several times a week but the current situation is making trips challenging to justify. Qualified staff is just as important as your product and seems to be the biggest challenge to maintain. I like...

Poor customer service on a problem with an online order. I purchased a 10 pack of the pre-seal Maple beef online at the end of February, 2024. They date on the package showed a "use date by 01/25." In early May, I noticed that at least five of the 10 packages had mold on them. Upon notifying the company, they politely replaced the 5 packages which came with a "use date of 3/25 date on them. This week, I noticed three (3) of the five packages had mold on them. The customer service person tried to convince me that this was fat content and not mold. I sent additional picture showing that is was mold and she responded that there appear to be an issue with the Maple beef sticks. Based on the fact that 8 out the 15 packages I had received were not consumable due to the mold, I requested a full refund because I have lost confidence in this product. I was told that a 50% credit could be provided and a full refund was not warranted. G&W has lost a customer for life as I will never purchase anything else from them or recommend them to anyone. What a poor customer...

Ruined our gift giving. Called from Florida to order gift to be delivered locally in St Louis County. Never delivered. Each call was a different excuse. ( All reasons were our fault of course....they said). My wife finally asked if I could call & try to confirm order. I knew within 3 minutes the lady had no intention of ever sending out the order. I told my wife she said she would confirm order by the end of day. She just wanted me off the phone. Left us message at 5:00 that order wasn't going out. Funny, it's the same thing she said the previous week. This time she claimed they were out of product! I WOULD NOW ANTICIPATE SHE WILL POST A RESPONSE STATING THAT IT WAS OUR FAULT FOR NOT BEGGING HER ENOUGH. My wife called the next day to cancel order & was told NO, only the owner can cancel an order. WE HAD TO CALL OUR CREDIT CARD AND REVERSE PAYMENT TO THEM. This used to be a very nice customer service oriented business. Very sad what they...
