About as close to a forest oasis you are going to get within city limits. We were here in the winter so the pictures are not doing it justice. Some parts are deep enough in the woods where you don't see cars or building anymore. Combination of concrete, gravel, and dirt paths throughout. Trails are kind of a cluster that go off in crazy directions without a real loop. If you do the actual quasi loop I thinks it's barely a mile.

A wonderful oasis of unblemished nature right in the city within Saint Louis' Forest Park, which is bigger than New York's Central Park. Several meandering trails run through the woods, allowing you to enjoy some "shinrin-yoku" (a Japanese term that means "forest bathing") during your wanders. Since I live in Alaska, I do not often get to visit, but I was fortunate enough to encounter several deer on my most recent ramble.

This is one of the most relaxing places to get away and it's hidden right in the middle of the city. When you're deep inside the densely packed forest, you can hardly hear the nearby highway or any city noises, just birds and the wind. There's multiple walking trails and bike trails, bridges and streams. I visit the forest multiple times a week to recharge and center myself. Especially beautiful and lush in the Spring.
