The Up & Up Salon — Attraction in St. Louis

A few months ago I was desperately looking for a new hair salon after a curly haircut gone wrong at another. I really wanted to find someone who was knowledgeable about curls and that listened to what I wanted. I found Sam on the Up and Up Salons Instagram page and gave her a follow. I looked through her personal page quite a bit before messaging her to schedule an appointment. She was super quick to reply and extremely helpful. I went in for my first visit in March this past year and fell IN LOVE. As soon as I walked in, everyone was super kind and welcoming. The sign out front had my name on it as a first time customer, which made me feel excited about this experience! I filled out some important paperwork and then met Sam to further talk about what I wanted out of this haircut. She listened, took notes, asked questions, and thoroughly explained what she was planning to do even before she started. This calmed all my nerves, because getting your curly hair that you absolutely love cut is a scary thing!! She started by cutting my hair dry and putting alllll kinds of beautiful layers in it. This gave my hair the shape and definition that I was really looking for. She then washed it with some amazing products that she explained to me and made my hair smell super good. She asked me what scent towel I wanted and put it around my neck while continuing to wash my hair. This addition was super relaxing and I look forward to it every time I come to the salon. She put some product in my hair when wet and explained all of it to me. She then put me under the dryer with some clips in my hair to help with volume and even sent me home with some of my own, which was really nice because I use them a lot now! She then diffused my hair and the outcome was absolutely perfect!! I remember feeling SO happy about it and excited to show off my new hair. She made me feel SO beautiful and I loved my curls even more. I have since gone back to her this past weekend, and I can safely say that I won’t ever need to find another salon again. My hair is easier to take care of and each time I leave she gives me a list of EVERYTHING she did to my hair and all the products she used in case I want to buy them. Sam is the best, and besides doing wonders for curls she’s also so fun to chat with! I highly recommend her and this salon! Best decision I have ever made for...

This salon has legit changed our lives. I am a mom with 5 kids so I’ll be honest Bridget welcomed us into the greatest salon and the owner is a GEM! ALL of the talent happening in here and how they are treating people and make you feel happy and good - it’s unreal anya’s This salon is VERY good. It’s impressive to see the beauty in the people and the skills they have.

Jamie cares SO much about her work and how her clients feel. She brought my shy daughter out of her shell and got her excited and is SO creative with her work. She is detail oriented and is awesome with everything from color to cuts she’s you’re girl. She’s my girls girl and we can’t thank her enough for doing Seraphina’s hair today! She works so well with children it is unreal!!!! If you have a child who wants someone to actually talk with them, be SO gentle and kind she is your person!!!! She did the greatest job working with my daughter who is 9! She is SO talented and patient. Jamie makes dreams possible for kids and adults alike. She’s mega talented with a smile that brings your soul instant comfort.

Sahara is very positive and upbeat as well as talented and listens - she’s extremely kind!! She will listen to you and her highlights as well as her colors are incredible- she is compassionate- loving and upbeat but she’s also extremely talented and is SO caring - you will feel excited and at home with Sahara. I assure you you’re in great hands with her and she’s just awesome!

Bridget is SO talented - her highlights for my long curly hair and my older daughter were beyond my expectations I love my hair for the first time in years and her shampoo and massage is a treat, she is SO amazing. Thank you Bridget for your hard work and I can’t even express how wonderful the whole salon is and every person in it. The atmosphere is incredible and they all work wonderfully together as well as it being a really great experience. The shampoo and massage is amazing!

Amazing salon that educates and truly knows their craft! I scheduled this after my daughter had a hair emergency and needed a large portion cut for the first time in years. They did an amazing, easy cut for a young professional student. We weren't sure what to expect and chose this place solely off of other reviews and closeness to our location. Upon arriving, we were immediately checked in and asked about what we were looking for. They were thorough in questions and making sure they understood. My daughter was elated. If I would have had time while In town, I would have had them completely revise my color. They have a ton of products and teach you about them and how to use them. I had never heard of the metal detox shampoo and conditioner by Loreal. They are products designed to get all of the chemicals that especially hard water deposits onto the hair which wreaks havoc on hair/coloring. The ingredients bind to these chemicals and wash them out of the hair! I absolutely bought some. Every person we encountered working there was incredibly pleasant and helpful. We had one person as her stylist, one who helped educate me on products and told me since I didn't live there that they could help me find a salon similar to theirs in my area. They had some coffee, water, honey sticks available for clients as well. The only slight negative is the parking sitch but that's to be expected and honestly wasn't even that difficult. Oh...and not being from this area...this was in the Tower Grove portion of town . It was my first time in that area and let me tell you, the vibe is everything down there!!! You're welcomed to Tower Grove by a huge light up sign letting you know you're there that extends across the street and reminded me of Vegas lights bc of the size. The entire neighborhood was full of cute shops including a pizzeria next door and a Chakra place across the street that I checked out (that has meditation classes and others).
