I initially was hesitant to write a review but wanted to make sure I was heard. Firstly, the shop was very clean and the atmosphere was awesome 5/5. The reason for 3 stars is because I feel like I was slightly taken advantage of by the pricing. My artist Pat was very nice and friendly. He took the reference I gave him and produced exactly what I wanted. However, he didn’t quote me for the tattoo beforehand and didn’t tell me the price until after the tattoo was finished. I take some responsibility for not asking from the beginning but Pat was working back to back customers and I was squeezed in (despite having an appointment). I got some black work done, about the size of 3-4 quarters maximum, and felt completely overcharged. I’ve gotten tattoos done in big and small cities and I understand that pricing varies, but for something as small and simple, I don’t think it was worth the price. Had I known what the price was beforehand I would have left. Additionally, before my tattoo, a mother and son were in the shop (the son getting a tattoo) and I heard Pat quote the son for a price but when he was rung up with his mom (the mom was going to pay) he asked for $20 more. I feel like there should be policy that makes sure price is agreed upon 100% before an ink is tattooed. I respect the hard work of the artists like Pat and I loved the shop, but I just wanted to pass...
Read moreAfter a couple months of researching tattoo artist in the St Louis Area I stumbled upon Tower Classic Tattooing. Every single artist that works there is impressive. They all shared in common, a passion for tattooing. Tower Classic has a culture of excellence, taking American traditional tattoos with custom flares in a cool and friendly environment. When I booked my appointment on my website, they were quick to respond and took in some notes on what I wanted and where. They answered all my questions quickly and efficiently. When I showed up to my appointment I was greeted by the owner Sean Baltzell. Sean has a long history in the St. Louis tattoo scene. I was looking for some American traditional flash with some personal touches. He efficiently got a understanding of what I wanted and came up with a badass tattoo. He was very professional and told me about how he came into owning the shop. The atmosphere of the studio is eclectic, featuring flash all over the walls and taxidermy. When you get tattooed you sit in old barber chairs. Everything here is about vintage but quality. My tattoo came out great and I can’t wait to stop back in for the rest of my tattoos. Tower Classic from what I saw is a pretty tight knit community of down to earth and talented artist. Thanks for...
Read moreFrom beginning to end, my tattoo was an absolute breeze. Everyone there was super kind and friendly, the atmosphere is really neat, and I loved the music. They even played some stuff that was very fitting for what I got tattooed, which made it more fun.
I went in with way too many ideas/choice paralysis. I ran them all by Sean and he helped me pick a design and placement. He customized my idea to make a good fit for both of our styles. I am glad I trusted him with creative freedom.
He and his crew made sure I was comfortable and taken care of the whole way through. They even gave me some Starburst when we started to make sure my blood sugar kept at a good level. I have quite a few tattoos and I've never been looked out for preemptively like that.
On top of the experience itself, I'm totally in love with my tattoo. It is high quality work backed by decades of industry practice and continued passion. I highly recommend this shop!! Did I say I love...
