Unfortunately, I'm forced to change my review. I prefer to not attach the salesperson's name because she was magnificent. From the moment we walked through the door she was attentive and did everything in her power to make sure we had a good experience and an easy time selecting what we need. The problems started from everywhere else.
When I had first set up delivery I was told that some items were not available because they came in damaged, one of them being the footboard for my bed set. They asked what I wanted them to deliver. I asked specifically if there was something I would be able to put my bed on and if we could be assembled without the footboard, the answer was yes. So at the time I did not care about the damaged goods they would come in a couple of weeks I would manage.
I was closing on a new house and needed Furniture delivered contingent upon my closing my closing was the morning of February 8th. I had scheduled it 48 and specified that I needed the afternoon window for that reason. Upon getting a call to confirm the day before was when I was told we can't take requests that's annoying in itself because I'm pretty sure they were supposed to be working for me not the other way around.
So, I delayed the delivery one day and then they called me the day before again to cancel the delivery because of the impending storm. Now I don't want anybody risking life and limb, but how about waiting for the storm to actually happen to see how bad the conditions really are? I have a Prius as my company car and I worked the day of the storm, I find it hard to believe that they couldn't manage.
That brings us to today. I had to work as did my fiance, but luckily some family was able to fill in for my morning window. They arrived at about 10 o'clock and I got there slightly after they had left.
Downstairs the furniture look fine, but then I went upstairs into what was supposed to be my new master bedroom set. Well, I saw a headboard leaning against my wall and two boxes of materials that were opened and not assembled. So now I still don't have a bed set and I had to call customer service. I spoke with a nice lady who took my information to somebody in the warehouse who then called me. He told me that they can't put it together without the footboard, I told him what I was told. His response was that they are wrong. I'm glad they are spreading misinformation.
however the person in the warehouse is sending me a temporary peace until my permanent one comes in that way I don't have to sleep on a mattress on the floor for tomorrow.
What I have learned, is not to deal...
Read moreOriginal Review, September, 2015 (edited with follow up developments): I wanted to buy a new mattress for my granddaughter and I thought she should try out the mattress before we bought it. I telephoned ahead and after a long time on hold, a salesperson told me there were quite a few mattresses on display. He asked when I would be coming and I told him I had to wait until the granddaughter finished with her sports practice which would be around 7PM and he told me to request him when I arrived. However, no one was interested in talking to us when we did arrive. We stood at a large desk for quite some time, while a number of people talked to each other and shuffled papers and no one asked if we needed any help. It was almost like they were avoiding us. Finally, we located the mattress section on our own and the child tried out several, however it was difficult to tell what the actual prices were and we had no idea which mattresses were within our $500.00 budget. We walked around the store looking for help but no one was there and everyone at the desk had more important things to do rather than help a customer. Our time was limited and we finally headed for the exit. I walked slow, expecting a salesperson to catch us before we reached the door, but no such luck. No one greeted us when we came, no one said goodbye when we left. No one acknowledged us at all. No one at Value City Furniture cared... I was hoping to get this mattress bought tonight, but my $500.00 will be better spent at another establishment where the customer's business is appreciated. *Edited October, 2015, after posting this poor review: I would like to add Value City Furniture management took my negative experience very seriously, quickly answered my poor review of their customer service and took measures to improve their future performance. This makes me very happy, because my previous dealings with Value City Furniture had always been very positive. In my years on this earth I've learned everyone makes mistakes... no one is perfect, but how you handle those mistakes is the mark of character. In this "edit", I am changing my one star rating to a three star rating and I look forward to doing business with Value City Furniture...

We purchased a table set approx, 4 years ago . On two separate occasions the chair legs collapsed within a week. My husband was very upset because I just had back surgery the week before and if it had been me It could have been a bad result.
My husband and I went to the Value City in Manahawkin , NJ store and spoke with the sales associate Audrey Andrews and explained the situation. Although she did not think they would be able to do anything because my husband had thrown away the chairs but did take pictures Audrey said that her manager was out of the office but would contact him and explained the situation while we waited. Approximately 5 minutes later she said that her manager was going to speak to someone higher then himself. We left the store and within 10 minutes I received a call from Corporate office advising that they are trying to resolve this issue and they would get back to me by 12:00 the following day . I totally did not expect a call back as no one ever calls when they say they are but I received a call from the sales associate Audrey Andrew stating they would give us a credit . My husband and I did return to the store and we were beyond happy with the outcome. Through all of this Audrey had the patients of a saint and I have to give her credit because we were in there for a very long time and she never got annoyed that we could not make up our mine. I have purchased many things from Value City in the past and never had a problem and when I did it could not have been handled any better. We are more then pleased with the service and Audrey should be commended for her professional attitude, I am from the business world and held a position in management and there is no question that the quality and guest satisfaction is a 10 . Kudos.
I live in an adult community and i will tell my friends of the exceptional treatment we experienced,
Sincerely, Gloria &...
