There is an item that I desired to get for my 15 year old son. We are not "well off" people and he rarely gets things he sets his heart on. He has visited the store quite frequently just to basically visit this item and has wanted it desperately. I went to see it with him and was given hope that I could obtain the item placing 75% down and making payments of $123 to pay it off in layaway. The clerk was very specific about the downpayment amount and these payments. The funny thing being I specifically recall the clerk calling and speaking to someone about it. Which in my mind could only have been the owner or should have been. When I went today to place that 75% down I was told by a different clerk "the owner doesn't do layaways or take payments ." The owner on the phone giving this information. And the clerk that gave the original information was called and said she didn't know they didn't do layaways. "?" I find that pretty odd considering I was given a specific downpayment % and payment arrangements for someone who "didn't know they didn't do layaways." I also find it disappointing that the owner didn't follow through with what was told their customer by their own employee out of plain professionalism. It's not a customers fault that an employee isn't properly trained or informed. Now... I have to go tell my son and I'm sure to have quite an appropriate reaction of hurt and disappointment. We didn't deserve this treatment from this place of business. My only experience with this establishement and not a very good one thus far. Now still having to hope the item doesnt disappear in however long it takes me to find another $200 only to hand it to folks that apparently make things up as they go? The proper thing to do would be to honor what was told us. Train your clerks better and discount the item for the sheer fact we were mistreated. I arranged the morning off from my job to come take care of this for my son because he deserves it!...
Read moreI was really excited to check this place out while my husband and I were in town. We almost immediately found a piece of wall art and requested it be held for us behind the counter so that we didn’t have to carry it around the store. The elderly woman at the desk responded “I hope I don’t trip over it.” That gave us pause but we continued looking around. A little while later my husband asked this same woman where the restrooms were located. In what felt rude to the point of almost being combative, she told us to go 2 blocks away to the Welcome Center or to the police station. Since my husband who has been profiled by police before because of the color of his skin didn’t feel comfortable with that option, we walked 2 blocks to the visitor center to find it closed… we were able find another option but when we returned and I told her that it didn’t open till 12 for future reference, her response was “well it’s good for you.” For people who have health conditions like Chrons, this could result in a humiliating experience. There are no signs posted but even that would not have made me leave without spending a dime there… it was the employee.
