Judge Danielle Y. Ramirez denied me a restraining order because she believed the person who I wanted to get a restraining order on (who lied under oath) and who tried to attack me with my daughter in my car. This judge hardly let me speak because she kept cutting me off, and then let the defendant talk without interrupting her. This judge also told me that she felt like I was the one lying . I tried bringing up past abuse that this person brought to me AND my baby (she put bruises on my daughters face (2022); keeping my daughter from me in one instance where she would not give me my daughter back after asking her multiple times; trying to force me to abort my daughter in 2021; attacked my mother which I made a police report about in 2022; & so many, many more instances) & she said she didn’t want to hear about it, but accepted some old text messages that the defendant printed out and brought from 2 years ago (2022) & from before October 2023 (this was the last month I texted the defendant) and told me that she believes the defendant loves and cares about me just based off of these old messages from BEFORE the incident.. UM, this person tried to ATTACK me with my daughter in my vehicle ?! This person also verbally abused me and my daughter’s dad that night prior to trying to attack me. The witnesses of this incident are her sisters and brother who are all afraid of her . She fought one of her sisters already & I don’t know about the rest. Her brother didn’t even want to come to court and testify because she threatened him before court. The judge also said she doesn’t believe i’m in danger because of how long I took to file for a restraining order and I tried explaining to her that this is my first time in court. I was in and out so many times asking where to go, what to do, about the process etc. Also I was afraid. Some people had told me not to even try to get one because what if the defendant retaliates and really harms me or my baby. Also, I was living in Lodi at the time so I wasn’t really running into her thank God. But now I’m in Stockton, living minutes away from this person who tried to hurt me. I moved to Stockton in May and in May is when my original court date was. The judge told me that these were not valid reasons as to why I waited so long. She said “someone who is in danger does not wait this long” but I did a quick google search and it says “there is no time frame that you have to get a restraining order. If you feel that you are unsafe, you can get one at any time.” After the judge dismissed us, I walked outside and the defendant was laughing at me & her mom was calling me crazy while I was crying. Taunting me. 3 days after the court date, they messed with my home which I had to make a police report about. If I knew that you could lie under oath without any consequences, I should’ve too. The court system is corrupt, inhumane and unfair. Not just this judge either, the fourth floor has workers who yell and scream at you for not knowing certain things & now I know. They don’t care until people are de*d & now I understand why Stockton is so bad. They’re enabling these offenders to walk the streets and harm more people. I’m bringing awareness to this situation now and I hope many people read my story. The people who you’d expect to help keep you safe do not care about your safety. I have God though and He is our protector....
Read moreHonestly... I do understand that this family court is there if parents can't handle the situation or come to agreements. But... when you are trying to be a good father, trying to prove that mom needs psychological help and you have the evidence! that's when you get so disappointing with the system that is running here in the court. I was falsely accused of DV and that created a temporarily custody... this while I had to take care of the false DV. Once my false DV was cleared and dismissed, I came back to resolve the custody issue and backed up with evidence and a ton of police reports... It was no good. Simply because my ex wife drama acting was good... enough tears to soften up the supplant judge who had no clue and idea of my case. (My ex attempted to do immigration fraud by marrying me) This was the reason why she falsely accused me of DV. How can someone get away with so much!?? The system can't see what she's doing wrong? Putting our child thru this traumatic events of separating dad from child?! Even ICE denied her Type U visa application due to obvious reasons! But yet, the family court don't see this as wrong and bad for a child? Unbelievable!!! Frustrating and sad... me as a father, hard working person, drug free, looking out for the best for my child.... and the court leans towards this mother because she was sad? (Judge said "I'm sorry for what you are going thru mam) But she can't see that mom has been called to school by the police for beating up her teenager, social worker granting her son to move out to his dads house because he ALSO was going thru violence at home by mom. How can this be possible!!!!???? I wish there was help for us, decent people not trying to use the system to our favor and collecting welfare, and government financial aid but instead busting our buts and working OT to pay those stupid fees to FILE for custody and being denied...
Read moreSan Joaquin County’s justice system is broken—and it’s not by accident. It’s by design. Inside Stockton Court, justice is treated like a formality. Outcomes feel predetermined, rights are routinely ignored, and the system appears more concerned with conviction rates than truth. Defendants are rushed through a process that looks more like a production line than a court of law.
At the center of this dysfunction is District Attorney Ron Freitas, whose scandal-ridden office is defined by prosecutorial overreach, disregard for constitutional rights, and questionable ethics. Instead of serving justice, the office under Freitas appears focused on building his political brand—often at the expense of everyday people.
Allegations of fraud involving grant funds and suspicious financial ties to his campaign manager only deepen concerns about transparency and corruption. These aren’t isolated missteps—they reflect a deeply broken culture that punishes the vulnerable while protecting the powerful.
This failure doesn’t just impact families. It affects residents, ethical lawyers, public defenders, and even honest prosecutors who are forced to work under a system that undermines integrity and due process. Professionals who are sworn to uphold the law are being pushed into a corner by leadership more focused on control than justice.
We—residents, families, and legal professionals—demand an independent investigation into the DA’s office. We call for full transparency, a review of practices, and accountability for everyone involved in undermining justice.
The people of San Joaquin County deserve better. We deserve a legal system that defends rights, not crushes them. We deserve leaders who serve justice—not themselves. The silence ends now.
It’s time for truth. It’s time for accountability. It’s...
