I have been going to this dog park for a couple of years. It is kind of a no frills dog park but a good place for the pup to just run around and meet others. I used to explore around in these woods when I was a kid back when I lived in North River Shores. It's nice to see that it is being preserved in somewhat of a natural state. Granted this is based on a small sample size since I have only walked on the trail (North Trail) a couple of time recently. I didn't see or hear much of anything in terms of wildlife. Not even many insects or amphibians. I saw an Anhinga land in the pond by the dog runs last evening but other than that not many birds. As a matter of fact, none that I recall. With the Fall Migration in full swing at this point there should be at least a few morning doves around and maybe even some ducks in the ponds here and there. Not so. Wait, I did see a woodpecker fly off from the bat house tree this morning. I don't know if it's the traffic noise from the Green River Parkway and other adjacent roadways or if there is some sort of habitat alteration that the wildlife has tuned into that we cannot pick up on but it is unfortunate that it is so devoid of critters. Still, it is a nice stroll through the woods. I look forward to checking out the South Trail and...
Read moreThe Dog Park. It's great. There's an area for "small" dogs under 30 pounds and for Large Dogs...separate fences. Also a nice trail to walk around. People are super friendly, and most of the dogs are too. Opens at 7am, which is nice, and closes at dusk. Both you and your dog will make friends here! If you or your dog are not friendly... Especially if one of you tends to attack or in any way go after other dogs ...or snap at people... Then this dog park is not for you. This is a social situation and both you and your dog should be up for it! Neither one of you is going to be forced to interact or talk, but both of you will be expected to be non-aggressive!!!!...
Read moreLovely park that needs some attention. Some parts of it feels sketchy or confusing, as the trails are not clearly marked. If you try to take the south trail, you have to cross a school's driveway, meander around a two-story home (making you feel like you're in their yard), then cross Baker Street with no crosswalk of any kind. It's a bit confusing and we felt like we weren't supposed to be there. That's my only real complaint.. that the trails need to be more clearly marked and kept up, as some were grown over and again, made us feel as if we had gone the wrong way or something.
Lots of wildlife though. Beautiful plants as well....
