There’s something about pulling off US-1 in South Jensen Beach, bleary eyed and pre-caffeinated, that makes The Googan feel like an oasis. Next door to a LA Fitness, of all places. It’s not a place that screams “thirdwave coffee” or “artisanal bullshit.” No, this is where the weary, the working, and the workout crowd get their fix with none of the pretentious latte art or dead eyed baristas phoning it in.

The Googan is like what Starbucks thinks it is if it stopped chasing profits long enough to actually roast a decent bean. The cold brew? It doesn’t play around. It’s jet fuel with personality. Strong enough to slap the sleep off your face but smooth enough to sip slow if you’ve got the time. And if you don’t? The drive thru got your back fast, friendly, and shockingly competent.

It’s got the bones of a chain clean lines, slick branding but none of the soulless corporate rot. Just a solid small business run by people who seem to actually give a damn. The vibe toes the line perfectly: not too hipster, not too commercial. You won’t find someone playing vinyls off a reclaimed record player or trying to sell you on mushroom coffee. You’ll just get a damn good cup, with a side of Florida charm.

They’ve got a second spot in downtown Stuart now, in the old Stuart Coffee joint. If that means anything to you, you know it’s sacred ground and The Googan’s doing it justice.

We frequently visit the Googan (both locations) and have had really good experiences there until today. Let me preface by saying that I can't even remember the last time I left a bad review for a restaurant, coffee shop, or any small business that relies heavily on repeat business but I felt the poor lack of service and judgement had to be called out. I'm writing this review an hour after leaving because I'm still dumbfounded by the experience.. 😆 We were sitting enjoying our coffee until the lights just shut off without warning or anything. I actually thought they lost power but it turned out they were closing. No announcement or anything was made either. What has happened to customer service? Would it have been too much to make an announcement or come over to the three tables to let them know that 2pm was closing time especially since they used to close at 3pm and all three customers including us were just dumbfounded..Complete nonsense! We were basically thrown out, and the manager even had the audacity to defend her staff's actions by saying they basically don't want to work on Sunday's so that's why they shut the lights off.
