Oyster Creek Park and Lost Creek park are really just two different sides of the same park. Oyster Creek parking is just off Highway 6 whereas Lost Creek parking is just off Settler’s Way. The two parks merge together along Oyster Creek. The only difference is the prominent features at the entrance. Oyster Creek holds a large green area for outdoor activities like tossing the ball or Frisbee. There’s also an art door exhibit (very small) and multiple fountains. Very popular place for pictures (wedding, quinceanera, prom, etc.), as the scenery is rather pretty (though, being it’s along a creek, water is muddy). Lost Creek, on the other hand, holds a host of soccer fields and kids teams. There are open practice fields in the utility breezeway (safe to use, but powerlines run overhead a few hundred feet) and reserved fields are in the park proper. There’s a kids playground for little ones, as well as restrooms, vending areas, and “conference rooms” for lack of a better word. Lost Creek is usually a voting location (in the “conference room” and one that’s not ever busy, either (not that many polling places are, unfortunately). Between and around the two is about two miles of walking/running/biking/dog trails. Note: dog bags are provided but in very few areas, and trash cans are rare along the trail, so you may have to hold on to waste for a bit. Both parks are great for the scenery, a nice little getaway in...
Read moreLong time family favorite, about ten years to be exact. Beautiful fountains, bronze statues, and water features. Most are man made, but there's still plenty of nature to be found. Lots of turtles, bunnies for the kids to spot, even the occasional alligator of you venture towards the creek. Extremely decent walking trail. Can easily do over six miles in an hour. Many tables for picnics, and if you feel like making the small trek across a field, a playground and covered seating area nearby. Lots of space for a game of touch football or to play catch. Room for dogs to run. Very popular destination for pictures, which actually plays in to the only drawback, which is that it's often crowded with people trying to take family, prom, quince, and senior pictures. You find yourself having to watch where you're standing or walking to prevent ruining the shot for others. But in the grand scheme, not terribly annoying and actually kind of cool to watch things like maternity and wedding pictures being taken. People are generally friendly and leave you to your business. It's a 20 minute drive for us (on a good day) as we live in SW Houston, but...
Read moreFirst time here, nice atmosphere, lots of people taking pictures, so I was limited to taking some my self. People don't like strangers taking pictures of them so I avoid it when I can. It's a little smelly do to the small creek, but you get used to it and it had just rain about 30 minutes ago, so don't know if that might contribute to the smell. Saw lots of small wild life, birds, tons of turtle's in and aroundthe creek , rabbits, and a snake. Small parking lot but as I travel, there's a second large parking next to the multiple soccer fields. Two restroom, one at the main entrance on Highway 6 and the other by the soccer field. But I was on my bike and travel between two parks, the one mention here and Edible Arbor Trails (There are no restroom on Arbor Trails, just benches, will not include pictures to cause no confusion) There is also a mountain bike course adjacent to both parks. Will probably ride that next time...
