Our group of five came to Pho Ben together with it being some of our first times ever. Walking in, were immediately and seated with in the first 30 seconds of our arrival. The atmosphere was warm, and homey and it was not particularly busy, but there were quite a few people there at around 1:40 on a Friday. There was low music playing in the background. As soon as we were seated, we were asked what we would like to drink and were given menus. Since a few of our group members came earlier than the rest, they went ahead and ordered water for everyone. We were given the water within minutes. At each table there were numerous napkins, chopsticks, and ladles, as well as many spices and condiments. There was plenty space to move around and comfortably sit. When ordering, all our waitresses and waiters were patient and kind while we asked questions and decided on what we wanted to eat. They even made recommendations on what we could choose and treated us with nothing but respect. The dishes came out no more than ten minutes after we placed our orders, even though there was six of us and the restaurant was fairly busy. As for what we ordered, we got: #73 â Bon Bo Hue (Spicy Beef Noodle Soup), #18 â Pho Dac Biet (Combo Pho), #16 â Pho Tai Chin (Beef Pho), #52 â Bun Bo Nurong Sa (Vermicelli Beef Noodles) and #36 Chicken Pho. The prices for each of these dishes range from $12.50-$14.50. In total, for our group of five, we spent about $66.50 on food. Each of our group members felt full and satisfied with their orders and felt each price was reasonable and even a little cheap. Addressing the service again, although the waiters and waitresses were patient and kind, they never asked us if we wanted any more water or any other drinks and did not refill our water once throughout our whole meal. One of our group members had an empty cup for over 40 minutes. They also did not check up on us again after serving our food until we were almost done with our meals. After our meals, paying was a quick and convenient process. They offered ApplePay, cash, and cards. It was quick and easy when it came to typing in information and getting our receipts. For cash payers, they server took the cash and immediately came back with the change and receipt letting all of our members stay seated and comfortable when it came to paying no matter what system we payed with. After we payed for our food, we headed over to their claw machine that we were all eyeing since we walked into the restaurant. It cost one dollar per turn and we each took our turns playing. There was a time limit of about 30 seconds per turn. Surprisingly, we were able to acquire three stuffed animals from the machine. We say surprisingly because usually claw machines are rigged to the point where it is impossible to get anything. This was a fun little way to end our experience and was a unique touch to a restaurant. It gave us another thing to remember the restaurant by. As for the important questions such as: Would we recommend this place to others? Whatâs our final rating of the restaurant and would we dine here again? Here are our answers: Yes, we would recommend this place to others. The food came at a reasonable price, and it was strong in both quantity and quality. The service, although it couldâve been better, wasnât bad, and we still had a great and fun experience. We got our food fast and fresh and there were little to no distractions or disturbing experiences throughout our dining. The seats and the environment were comfortable, and we felt welcomed and appreciated. Finally, when it all comes down to our rating of the experience, there are many different factors. Our group consecutively gave the service rating a 7.5/10. As for the food, we all agreed on a rating of 8/10. And finally, we agreed on the price rating of a 9.5/10. This all comes to an overall score of 8.3 out of 10 for Sugar Landâs Pho Ben Restaurant. So, to answer the question of if we would all come back here again, it is a definite and...
Read moreCame here for dinner on Sunday 11/13/22 with my grandparents. We've been about 4 times before and have enjoyed the food, service, and prices each time. It was cold outside during our recent visit, and we sat right by the entrance, so each time the door would open, we'd get a blast of cold air. I didn't mind because I love the cold and my grandparents just kept their layers on. I only had one issue with my most recent visit, and it wasn't the table that we sat at, nothing to do with our waiter, but EVERYTHING to do with the people waiting to be seated. You see, we arrived around 5:30ish, and it was like pitch black outside, but it's usually standard "dinner time". Especially for my grandparents, so the rush of everyone came after we had already placed our order. Now, this place has a sign that says "please wait to be seated", so you're kinda just standing there in a small space waiting for someone to tell you where to sit. So back to this rush of horrible, rude, and inconsiderate people. Clearly there is only a small space for those who have to wait to be seated, and yes it's super cold outside, but don't over crowd the small place and stand there next to booths and tables. You are disrupting the meals of the ones who showed up at a decent time and didn't have to wait. The children of these unsympathetic, thoughtless, and unmindful rush of people were just staring at people as they ate. I'm sure people whom were already seated couldn't help but feel bad. Me however, I'm putting on a show for these people of how good and warm the food is. They're standing there, door opening and closing, shouting loudly and interrupting dinner and conversations. So, because they were ignorant and couldn't wait in their vehicles, I decided to show the same amount of selfishness and act like I was eating food from the Garden of Eden. They were asked to wait outside and form a line alongside the store front. No one moved, of course because it was cold outside. All I have to say is, they should've brought parkas and been prepared. Literally, no one moved a muscle, and you could see the frustration in the staff because it was like 30+ people that came in. I'm probably exaggerating by 5, but it was a RUSH. Also, big props to the woman who just started taking charge, bussing tables, and telling people where to sit. She like basically told staff to wake up and get their sh*t together, and they did. Like I said before, I've enjoyed everytime I've visited but it was just the people waiting to be seated who clearly had no home training. They are the ones who ruined my visit. And I'm not going to deduct stars because it was something out of the control of the business, but I truly hope they take this review into consideration for potentially coming up with a better waiting area. Only because they can't go door to door and teach people how to respect those whom are already seated and enjoying...
Read moreGreat food and service. My wife and I and our daughter-in-law, her mom and our grandbaby enjoyed some great food. A couple of us had the chicken banh mi sammiches and I snarfed a full chargrilled pork banh mi. An order of grilled chicken spring rolls were consumed along with an order of Vietnamese fried egg rolls. My wife enjoyed a bowl of pho, she was glad she got the small 'cause there was no way she could finish it much less the large #10 washtub. I had them put a fried egg on my porky perfection sammich. I also enjoyed an iced Vietnamese coffee.....we'll be back for more visits to the Pho Ben mother ship....this place has been around for about 25 years and now we know why...yum. another visit, another 5 star adventure... Four showed up to chow down, one for Pho and three for Banh Mi. My wife is the Pho lady, pho bien vien....noodle soup with meatballs, she polished off the broth, meatballs and some of the noodles. I always get the #10, banh mi with grilled pork...yum! Our friend got some fried eggrolls and her non spicy pork sammy and our daughter-in-law got the same. I got an iced Vietnamese condensed milk coffee, they bring a little drip machine that sits on top of a cup full of condensed milk, after it's done dripping, take off the dripper and stir the coffee into the milk, than pour this tasty concoction over another cup full of ice......very authentic I think...we'll be back for more goodies and we'll bring our son since he likes this stuff and hasn't been available yet.
We took our son to the original Pho Ben. His wife and mother-in-law have been and he was the last immediate family member to become a believer in Pho Ben's food. We shared everything. The vermicelli bowl with chargrilled lemongrass sliced porky goodness and a fried egg roll was very tasty especially after I remembered to drizzle the sauce all over it. My son and I split a banh mi of chargrilled beef and another of pork, he remembered to get a fried egg but I forgot.....still got half of his. My wife got and shared an egg noodle soup with wontons, the wontons were very tasty and the broth was stellar. My wife loved her mocha frappe, house coffee blended with fresh milk, chocolate sauce, premium cocoa powder and whipped cream. I really enjoyed the drink and presentation of Vietnamese iced coffee with condensed milk.....brewed at the table, very authentic. We also shared an order of fried pork spring rolls. Our son was hooked. We've been to two of the three Pho Ben locations, the mother ship on highway 6 and the one on Westcott. We're already planning...
