My office is nearby and was contemplating whether to drive all the way to Seiwa Market on Dairy Ashford for my poke bowl fix, but decided to give this place a try. I was first greeted by some sort of a strong cleaning agent/chemical smell when I walked in and almost walked back out. Since I was ordering to go, I went for an Ohana bowl (Super) since it seems like something popular and difficult to screw up spicy tuna and salmon (I make my own poke bowls too). Brought it back to the office and everything looked kosher from the top, but as soon as I mixed it up and took a bite, it had chunks of scorched rice as if the rice had been sitting in the rice cooker for too long. I would say that half of the bowl had scorched chunks of rice. I am sure if you prepare enough poke's you can tell when scooping the rice that you have scorched chunks and should not use it. Scorched rice from the bottom of pots are good with some dishes but not in a poke bowl. Do yourself a favor, if a customer is paying a premium price for a poke bowl, at least make sure the rice is good. This should be an easy fix. BTW, the strong cleaning agent/chemical smell is so strong that it seeped into the paper napkin that was included in my order. You may want to fix that as well. For now, I guess I would keep making the long drive to Seiwa until I see progress here by...
Read moreI got 2 juices and 2 poke bowls.
the fruit the was put on display (hopefully never used) was rotting and had fungus growing on it. I didn’t see this till after I ordered and paid.
The actually fruit for the juices were ok, the whole cup is filled with ice first. The disappointing part was the lack of fresh lemon in a fresh squeezed juice. They use a bottled preservative lemon juice.
the Salmon on the poke was not the freshest, has a slight fishy taste, after a few bites I couldn’t do it anymore. The cucumber was yellowing, the carrots were dry.
Seems like this place has not been kept up with. Gave it a chance but would not go back...
Read moreUpdate: the owner responded to my message about letting them know. I have done that each time. They are aware. I was surprised by the response. I definitely miss the old owners (I wish I knew I'd they opened another place). I understand costs are higher but I would rather pay more for a quality product.
Original review: Friendly and nice individuals. Unfortunately, it does not taste the same as before. The poke bowls and juices taste different than they use to. I've given them a few tries since the change of owners, but the flavors are different. I'm sad because I use to drive from Pearland just for the food. It...
