My mother called in today to ask for the price to sell them sterling silver. They told her it would be $20.00 per ounce. Once she took a long drive over there and invested time and effort to take the pieces to the store, they offered her a very different and very low amount of $11.00 per ounce. I’ve sold them the same types of sterling silver previously and never had such an inconvenience and bad experience happen. The market price of today’s sterling silver is also much higher than it was when I sold to them previously and they used to pay a fair amount of $15.00 per ounce. This was a very unfair treatment and I feel they tried to take advantage of someone who didn’t have much knowledge about precious metals at all. The woman who attended my mother even tried to ask her various questions about her knowledge of silver and even personal questions that had nothing to do with the transaction. All of these actions from the employees have proven to be of malicious intent and I will never be doing business with this company again and I strongly suggest anyone thinking of doing so to reconsider and be very wary of these people. Very dishonest and untrustworthy business!! What a shame.
Responding to business reply- Since this is the only way to respond to the business, no it was not the person you speak of. This was the first and last time my mother would enter this store. Admitting to offering anyone this amount under these circumstances, no matter who it is, is still a very dishonest practice on behalf of you...
Read moreI've been here once before and just assumed that all cash for gold places were the same....I was WRONG. I decided here recently to get rid of some more broken pieces and went to a place that claims to MAX your gold, instead of driving down to South Tampa, I almost made a big mistake. I went in to the Max place and they offered my $90 and that was with their 20% for 1st time customers. All I can say is thankfully I left my drivers licence at my prior stop and I was panicing to get out and the lady gets on the phone and calls someone and all of sudden she's handing me a business card with $250 written on if I come back today! I was SHOCKED at this nonsense and when I got in my car I called Arthur Yates and Sons and explained what happend and the weights the Max place gave me and before I told him the amount Ron said we can probably do $300 if it correct. I was so mad at myself for not going to Yates to begin with and all I can say is it was fate me leaving my licence, and I was beyond thankful for it. I will use no one else if I do a cash for gold and HIGHLY recomend them to anyone needing to do the same. Not to mention the time prior was a great experience as well, the lady that helped me was very helpful and kind. Save yourself the hassle an nonsense at these other place and GO TO ARTHUR...
Read moreI recently turned 65 and started the process of downsizing everything that my kids and grandkid do not want. I did some research - online and phoning several jewelers in the tampa bay area - Arthur Yates & Sons Jewelers seemed to fit what i was seeking in a jewelry store: established, well-reviewed, offering items that led me to believe that my gold jewelry would be in their price range to purchase.
Upon entering the store, i was immediately greeted and asked how they could help me. I explained my mission and was invited to empty out all of my jewelry items onto the counter, which i did. My items were carefully looked over, both with a loupe and using a touchstone. Later, everything was weighed.
A price was named, to purchase everything that i had brought in, and the offer price very closely approximated what i had considered as a reasonable offer (after doing my own research). I accepted immediately and was handed a check for the full amount within a few minutes.
Five stars for professionalism, courtesy, and...
