I am only leaving five stars here because a million isn’t an option. I have so many great things to say. I decided to get boudoir shots done for a couple of reasons. First, I wanted to do something special for my boyfriend for Christmas. Second, and maybe more importantly, I wanted to do it for myself. I’m in my early forties, divorced, and have gained some weight because that is what happens as human bodies get older, which is quite rude if you ask me. Anyway.
Unfortunately for me, I made this wonderful decision awfully late in the year, so it was going to be difficult to pull it off in time for Christmas. However, I reached out to Sweet Plum due to their phenomenal reviews, and Patricia went above and beyond to fit me into their packed holiday schedule. It was amazing.
Prior to the photo shoot, Patricia made sure to provide me with all the information I’d need, including stuff I hadn’t thought of. Like don’t do certain types of hair removal the day before the appointment because you risk still being a red puffy mess. She was very responsive to my somewhat panicky texts about where to get good lingerie at the last minute (shout out to Honey Birdette here) and what sort of shoes I needed.
On the day of the photo shoot, I arrived and first got my hair and makeup done beautifully by their makeup artist, whose name I unfortunately cannot recall. During the shoot, Patricia was awesome. Getting these sorts of photos done can be a nerve-wracking experience for even the most confident among us, but she did an amazing job making me feel comfortable, and I ended up having an absolutely wonderful time. She gave easy-to-follow instructions on certain poses. FYI when she tells you to ignore the fact that it feels a little ridiculous because it makes a great photo, BELIEVE HER. Also, she did a great job of working around the fact that I’d sprained my ankle right before the appointment. Somehow we got some awesome shots of me in heels despite the fact that I had a hard time walking in Birkenstocks.
Another complication of my last minute scheduling was that after the shoot, I needed a faster-than-normal turnaround time in order to have the album in time for Christmas, which only really mattered because my boyfriend was returning home to England on the 23rd, and I wanted to give it to him in person. Patricia again worked some miracles, and she had an unbelievably gorgeous album ready for me the day before his flight left. The photos were beyond spectacular. I did not know I could look like that. Not only did my boyfriend love them, but I loved them too. The experience of the actual photo shoot in combination with the final product was an enormous confidence boost.
Y’all, I cannot recommend Sweet Plum Boudoir strongly enough. If you’ve been considering getting some photos done but are having a hard time overcoming the fact that, yeah, it’s kind of terrifying when you think about it, DO IT. And do it with Sweet Plum. You won’t regret it. You will feel fantastic, and you will love the photographs. I promise.
(Yes, I am leaving this review way after Christmas because I swore I had posted it in, like, January, but no. I’d written the draft in a word document, but...
Read moreI came across Patty and Sweet Plum in a FB group and I had been looking for a boudoir photographer. After looking into her company and speaking with her on the phone, I felt she was the perfect fit!
Leading up to my session, she sent plenty of emails with suggestions, reminders, and advice on how to prepare. By the day of my session I felt more than ready. Upon arriving for hair and makeup, I was offered a glass of wine and made comfortable. Once the camera was on me, I felt nothing short of comfortable with Patty no matter what outfit or pose she put me in.
Her sense of humor, honesty, and personality made the entire experience like nothing I could have imagined. I couldn't wait to see my photographs!
Fast forward a week later and I arrive back at her studio for my photo reveal. I was only expecting to like a handful of them due to self-confidence issues but Patty did such a wonderful job it was hard for me to pick ones I DIDN'T like! I was so beyond impressed with the quality of photos, the styles, the poses... there really wasn't anything I didn't like!
Looking back on my experience, I would do it again in a heartbeat but only if I was guaranteed to work with Patty. She was so amazing to work with and I would recommend her to anyone. I can't wait to gift my future hubby this album for our wedding. While I went into the experience as a gift for him, I came out of it with a gift for myself and for that I couldn't be...
