I couldn't give it five stars because of my recent experience with the rec center/gym. All of the amenities are great, but more geared toward pleasing students (I get it, it's a college campus). The faculty/staff locker room hasn't been renovated in ages. The student one has. So, I used the student locker room to shower, until the ROTC students started coming in at 7am to shower after their PT. I have to be at work by 8am, so I ended up adding locker service to my membership in order to have access to the staff locker room.
The part that baffles me is there is a relatively new ROTC building on campus that I'm sure cost a pretty penny. Are there no showers in that building? Also, I asked the rec center front desk staff which days ROTC uses the showers and they said there was no set schedule. Sorry, but I work on campus (am also an alumna of the university) and I need to be at work on time. Thus, I added a $90 fee to my annual membership for access to the other locker room. Once there, I realized that the ROTC instructors use that locker room. I guess there's no avoiding fighting for...
Read moreStaff were friendly Friday night for set up and in the morning but it got worse as day went on (with exception of the guy that worked Saturday evening he was very diligent and friendly). We asked them to clean the bathrooms so maybe thats what started the attitudes. We are running a tournament here and we were told we had to be out by 10PM, luckily we were done by 10PM...... not sure what would have happened.
The bathrooms were not maintained trash was still full when we got there the next morning for the tournament. We asked them to open the handicap accessible door when they opened on Sunday and he did it....... begrudgingly saying that "they don't normally open it til 11AM when they open..... one would think that when you have hundreds of people in a building that you would make it accessible to all!
It just seems like the staff at the front desk don't do much but play on their cell phones. A little disappointing for such a...
Read moreI was overwhelmed at first because of how big and crowded it was, plus it was full of big, bulky, terrifying-looking guys 😂 But over time this has become my favorite place in the university. I mostly work out on the weight floor, but there are many other rooms for different kinds of sports. On the weight floor, you can find pretty much any thing for any kind of exercise. They're not new equipment, and from time to time things do get broken (they'll get fixed), but hey it's a free gym for students. Most folks here are students so the overall atmosphere is really nice and supportive. The "big guys" seem to prefer this over the other gyms on campus, so if u like watching ppl lifting heavy to get motivation, which I do, then come here. If u prefer a more chilling and relaxing atmosphere and newer equipment, go to the FIT or WELL. It can get really crowded tho, so pick the time carefully to avoid a...
