Took this tour last week. You just cannot go wrong taking this 60-minute tour! Learn all about what its like for some poor hard-working kid growing up to be a rich and influential man, all within the 1800's. Makes you want to go get his autobiography. Can't want for the movie to come out.
Best part was how a farmer whose land was flooded by dam builders blew it up with dynamite! That caused a HUGE log jam. Serves them right! Farmer should get compensated.
The one thing I would change which I can't fault the tour guide was how they characterized our hero Mr Folson in bravely fighting Dakota Indians in 1962. Dakota were facing starvation and displacement by government so they attacked ppl around them. Fighting starving ppl is not a brave thing to do. Tour guide should speak about the event as unfortunate for everyone. That's all.
ALWAYS LEARN HISTORY! so you don't repeat the same mistakes, plus you learn how others do things the right way so you can repeat those same successes.
