I had surgery on June 12 2019. I have too say that the start of my experience there started ok with the staff that checks you in and gets you prepared for the procedure was great. I had a surgery on my nose and sinus cavity I have severe sleep apnea and a heart condition and is diabetic that required me to stay for 24hrs all that was listed in my paper work or medical history with the medication list that I am on . My surgery was completed and the care for recovery went down the nurses have no clue of what they are doing once in my room my oxygen level was very low. My 2 teenage kids were in the room with me and the nurse told them too watch the machine and to come get her if it went below 86 it went done to low 70 daughter went and got nurse she hooked my up to oxygen with a special mask that sits on around neck and chin since I was not able use my nose. There was several different nurses in and out of room and each one of them did something set something up and then the next nurse that would walk into room would undo it respiratory came in and set up a humidifier and a nurse turned it off. One took my mask off and said I should be fine my oxygen fell low again so nurse comes in and puts mask on but shoves it on my nose I yell in pain and tell her it doesn't go over the nose.my nose starts to bleed she leaves the room my kids freak out because she not only does that to my nose she was adjusting my IV bag and had it in her hand as she talked away. My kids did not want to leave me there in the care of the staff. Two nurses came into room to check and change bandage one was the one thatshived mask onto my nose she says to the other nurse I dont know its bleeding like this my daughter says it's because you shoved the mask on her face instead of the chin. She didn't say anything just left the room.i had ice packs on my legs that had melted and leaked all in the bed the nurse kept checking my legs for some reason I dont know but would pick up the melted bags and would place them back done saw my bed was soaked but it was my daughter that asked if they can change the sheets. Nurse came in and changed sheets and put padding down and tells me this should absorb the next time I have an accident my daughter tells her no it was the ice bags that you took that leaked she said I dont remember taking any out of the bed. About 4 hours go by and they nurse informs me that I have missed the kitchen for dinner so I was not able to eat now I haven't eaten anything after 8 PM the night before following preop instructions and surgery was done at 3 and at this time its 9 PM I haven't eaten for 24 hours and I am diabetic started to feel nauseous and my daughter said i need something too eat nurse says well she has no restriction you can go and get her something my daughter tell nurse that's not what the doctor told her when he talked to her after the surgery. Nurse said that she will check to see what to do. My kids had to leave at this time. It was about 4 am the nurse came in with apple sauce for me to eat I ate it fell asleep it was 6 or 7 am they came in and checked vitals and drew blood my sugars were high they insisted on giving me a shot of insulin which I am not on I told them it was high because I had apple sauce and that I am on metformin they said they dont have that in my medication history. I told them they have to because I filled it out and registration went over the list me and it was on there. They never gave me my metformin. They gave me a few of the other one including aspirin which I was told to stop taking a week before sugery and not to take it for week after because of surgery but they gave it to me. Few hours later a doctor came in and released me and I couldn't wait to leave. I would never want to go to this hospital or recommend it to anyone. Room was dirty had sun flower seed shell in chairs and on floor from previous patients bathroom was gross the toilet had urine on back of seat I had to ask nurse to clean it so I can use it she did and without gloves and did not was her hands and went and fixed...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreMy Mother had surgery here at this hospital. I got there in the evening to find out she was still in PACU. My father had been waiting in the family waiting room that was not comfortable for 7 hrs without seeing her. He also requested to see her and never came back. My parents are elderly mind you. Her surgery was less than 2 hrs and he did not see her for 7 hrs and she still did not have a room. This was a scheduled procedure. Their phones were down. There was no one at the front. No way could I find anyone to help me. Took me about 1/2 hr to find someone. This place is a hot mess. Their employees scrambling around trying to make something out of nothing. Unbelievable. My father sat there for 7 hrs and he is severely diabetic. They had no food available for him and expect him to wait in this room for 7 hrs for a short surgery with no complications. The cafeteria had closed at 1 pm. and they got there at 1 pm. They had no vending machines he could find so he could bring his sugars back up. Nothing in the Family waiting area for him. No one checked on him. He has a lot of medical issues so definitely was taken advantage of. Wow really vulnerable senior citizen. What if he had went in a coma from his sugars because itās happened when he doesnāt eat. Sitting there needing food wanting to see his wife and worried for her. My Mom always takes care of having something around for him and so he didnāt bring anything. He also doesnāt think clearly when his sugars are low. He has those medical alert bracelets on so people can identify heās diabetic and everything else because heās on dialysis and all of that ok. For real nobody noticed this man sitting in there with nothing for 7 hrs requesting to see his wife! I am very upset right now. His sugars were bad when I got there. My Mom was having no complications and still in PACU. They have no organization and no one around to help or any sort of hospitality but they are a hospital. We come from a family in hospital administration and I know this was wrong and a lot of things I witnessed there were wrong. Definitely do not recommend this hospital. I think they are closing a hospital in Phoenix. If this is what your putting out there than no wonder you are occupying only 70 patients. No thank you, not this day in age. Next. Update: I feel compelled to give the community an update because our situation has worsened. I wasn't able to communicate with my Mom. No phones. I left 7 messages and not 1 nurse calls me back. I contacted my Moms Dr who put her there and they put in a request for a callback for me and no phone calls. No one in my family has heard from my Mom we are all worried sick. The night before I have to say was better because of her Nurse Fartun, she is an outstanding medical professional on every level. I arrive the next evening to see a soiled bloody rag ontop of the dirty linen bin with a pair of gloves next to it. I used to shadow a infection control officer so this gets under my skin. I sat and watch multiple employees pass by even look at it and no one disagreed it. After 2 hrs I left and it was still there. Next day drains being pulled, IV out all that good stuff and the nurse proceeds to put medical waste in the regular trash bin. Wow all the lives you just put in danger. Let your housekeepers know medical waste is in their trash. unreal. Medical waste has blood and bodily fluids and are to be disposed of in the RED bin people for a reason, 101. There were no needle holders or red bins in room so she put them in the regular trash. Infection control nightmare.Clearly cutting every corner, don't care what laws, rules and guidelines are out there. Wait till The Joint Commission gets wind of this because this is plain disgusting, unethical, and goes against every policy and procedure. This place is dangerous. I am in shock this has happened and am embarrassed for our medical community. Lets stop the spread of disease instead of create it. Lets give families the comfort in times of need. Take care of people with dignity...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreIt took 3 separate ER visits for them to figure out what was wrong. Was first told it was hiatal hernia, was given morphine and zofran, left and made lifestyle changes recommended. A month later I feel as if Iām having a heart attack again and come back, explaining what they told me last time. I get morphine and zofran then dismissed. The following day it happens again, even more intensely this time. I go back a third time and beg for more tests as this pain is unbearable. They discover I need my gallbladder removed. I was in ER for 13 hours before they got my room, where I was treated wonderfully by ER staff. Once I got to my room, my night nurse was pleasant and attentive. I was scheduled for surgery the next morning. I have the surgery and it all goes well. I stay another night at the hospital to make sure my pain is manageable. My pain was more than I expected and I am treated with respect and given my medications on a timely manner until the morning of my discharge. A little later a doctor comes in to let me know Iāll finally be able to leave today but unsure of sooner or later in the day. My night nurse reminds me to let them know about 15 mins before my medication time since she sees Iām struggling. I call the nurses station 15 mins prior to remind them. Iām given a new nurse āJenā for the morning shift and she then lets me know she wonāt give me the medication I was told Iād be receiving intravenously because Iād be leaving (time unknown) and she didnāt like that, so that Iād need a pill. She offered Tylonel and then another intravenous pain killer that didnāt work for me in the past. I asked her if I was being sent home with just Tylonel or what was going on. She says sheās unsure and goes to ask what I can have. I am in tears at from pain and stress especially since they made me give up my psych meds upon arrival. Once she finally returns she gives me an oxyā I ask how long it takes to work and she says 30 mins. Overwhelmed by pain I begin to bawl, and she starts clearly getting annoyed. Asking me what the problem is and telling me I should be getting up and walking around. This is my 3rd day here and Iāve NEVER seen this woman. I walk when my body allows it as Iāve just had SURGERY that affect my core. I told her I didnāt appreciate her speaking to me in this way and voices began to raiseā I asked her to get out since she wasnāt helping me, especially my emotional state. She continued and I then had to tell her she needed to get out until another nurse came to check the situation. Nurse Jen begins changing her behavior in front of her colleague and the other nurse gets her to leave. I am hysterical at this point, I do not feel like I am a patient in care but somebody out of the loop being treated like an annoyance because of physical body pain caused by a medical procedure I got at THIS HOSPITAL? Doctor Wallace comes in to smooth over the situation imagine and simply tries to play it off as Jen is having a bad day? I just got surgery and am in pain crying my eyes out. IāM having a bad day and paying to be here! I received no apology and was expected to stay 3 hours following the incident for discharge but my loud crying made them get me out of there asap. I also requested not to see Nurse Jen anymore and she still came into my room two separate times. Itās truly saddening when you can tell a nurse was bully growing up and gets off on it now in her career since she canāt do it in Highschool anymore. I am truly hurt by this experience and not looking forward to future check ups in a place that treated...
