The food was delicious but my server gave us horrible service. A friend and I came to try the restaurant out one morning between 11:30 am12:30 noon and all eyes was on us from the time we walked in the door. We found a table, it took a server about 10-15 mins. to come to our table even tho the restaurant was not packed at all. It was about 3 tables seated about 5 to 6 customers at that time, who was already served, including us. I ordered a Margarita, my friend asked for prices and the server looked at her as if she crazy for inquiring about the prices, there was no drink prices on the menu. However she finally gave her the prices. She took forever to bring the drinks over. I guess she profiled us based off how we look, I was fresh off work, STILL in work clothes, trying to have a drink before I go home. I'm a hard working, brown skinned American woman and so is the young lady who I was with. So we finally get the drinks and placed a food order. I noticed that while waiting for the food how she couldn't stop staring at us, not as if she was checking on us but making sure "we haven't ran out on the check" . I felt extremely uncomfortable at that point. The food comes about 15-20 mins after ordering which is fine now the staring from her starts back, just watching our table. Mind you, by the time we got the food there were more customers who entered the restaurant, who she gave awesome service to, I noticed her suggestive selling, recommending drinks and food items, pre bussing tables, checking on them, bringing refills and we didn't receive ANYTHING but creepy stares. So I raised my have to request the check, she came and that's when she offered me another drink, at this point I'm ready to go but I got the drink anyway because it was delicious, now I'm waiting for the second drink and the check when the manager comes over asking us "what's the problem, is everything ok?" I stated " there's no problem, just waiting for my drink and the check " he stood there a for a second silently as if pondering and just walked off. He stared from across the restaurant by another table. I ended up not finishing the drink, I took a few sips and paid and went to the restroom. As I'm using the restroom my friend is waiting for me outside the stall when I hear the manger approach my friend asking why is she standing there is everything ok, she stated she was waiting for me. When I came out the restroom the manager was right there waiting with my friend, I guess to make sure she was actually waiting for someone. This was, by far, the creepiest, ",profile-ish" experience I've ever had. Not all brown skinned American's are bad people. I paid for the bill , I also left a tip that was not deserved but because I've been a waitress before I know how hard it can be living off tips. I want to come back for those "big freaking nachos" and that Margarita with red wine but I'm not sure if my race is welcomed in there. Everything was delicious except the service. The restaurant is beautiful on the inside, nice and clean, beautiful set up. That was my first time and WOW what...
Read moreIf you’re looking for a no frills place to grab some grub and chill, this is the place. The food and service were exceptional. I found myself in Tempe during lunch time and wanted to try out something a little different. Read some of the reviews and saw the few images there were. None of them can do this place justice. I had a great time! What an amazing find! It was surprisingly larger inside than anticipated. It has an old cowboy bar feel with a little of that special “dive bar” feel. The type of dive that shows this place has been shown love. At the point I found myself there (2:15pm) this place was very empty. However that did not spot the staff from being extremely warm and welcoming. I was greeted and helped within the first minute I was there. I had sat at a high top table next to the bar. The woman who helped me was also the bartender. She was amazing. She took my order and delivered it within 10-15 minuets. When asked a few questions about the place (history, clientele and busy times) she was extremely knowledgeable and forthcoming with info. One thing she said that stuck with me was describing Boulders as Tempe’s “Cheers” (late 80s TV Show) where everyone knows your name. I think that is the perfect description. You can tell this the restaurant/bar people want to come back and get to know their neighbors. I will...
Read moreI'll preface this by saying this place is either one of the last holdouts from the COVID-era QR-code to get the menu situations or a revival. Probably a revival; because they even include the ability to place your order through the linked app/website rather than your server. I'm not a fan of that - at all. Honestly, I'm not at your establishment to stare at a screen. If I wanted that, I'd just stay at home and order delivery in between simultaneously binge-watching Netflix, HBO Max - I mean Max - I mean HBO Max, Disney Plus, Hulu... You get the point. I don't want to get too off topic on this, but a note to management: pay your employees a fair wage rather than trying to give them less work by detracting from your customers' experience and turning their jobs into something more akin to texting friends - not cool. Anyway, I know... robots will be the only servers sooner rather than later. Sorry, back on track, the server was very in tune to my table's distaste of the whole menu/ordering situation and both brought us menus and took our orders in person without us even asking. Bravo! Short story even longer: food was delicious; cooked exactly to order, and service was consistently prompt and friendly all despite management's attempt to make a sit-down dining experience commensurate with...
