Update: tried to go to college somewhere else after almost a year, but ASU was still reporting that I was attending there! So I was unable to get any financial aid for my current college. ASU claimed I never told them I wanted to withdraw. I had mailed their Financial Aid office a huge packet full of copies of all the emails they had sent me and all the times I submitted requests to withdrawal. They claim they never received that nor any of my requests to withdraw. Their Financial Aid and Registrar office has the most incompetent staff I've ever seen!! I was eventually able to get this resolved but it's completely unacceptable!!
This is the worst, most dysfunctional, online college I have EVER seen! My enrollment counselor was absolutely useless and knew nothing about actually getting me enrolled. Then, once I finally talked to someone competent, I was able to register, but I was pretty much on my own for figuring out what classes to take. I completed orientation, but I only filled out half of an activity and received full credit for it anyway - big red flag!
A week into my session (in January), I lost my job and I needed to quit school so I could focus on finding a new job and keeping food on the table. After successful withdrawing, the bookstore later tried to bill me for a book I never used because they didn't get notified when I withdrew, so I had to take a screenshot of my withdrawal confirmation just to have that charged removed. Clearly their departments don't communicate with each other!
And now, I'm getting emails after every session saying I'm not meeting SAP requirements and that I have a 0.0 GPA so I can't receive financial aid. What part of withdrawing from my classes did they not understand? I tried submitting the online SAP form they asked for, but I said I'm never coming back to ASU, so my form was returned. I've tried calling, but their automated system just takes me in circles and their chat bot doesn't connect me with a human being.
I guess I'm getting emails for the rest of my life! I'm returning to school next year at a different college, so I'll find out if ASU ruined my eligibility for future federal loans. If they did, I can guarantee you I'll be pursuing...
