You can gladly pay $76 for 3 people so you can experience lights still on during the movie and living room quality of sound. The seats are from the late 90ās or early 2000ās and the floor last moped maybe a decade ago? Different sodas seemed watered down via a higher water to syrup ratio and popcorn is left over from the previous day it seems if you go mid afternoon. For the price, you would expect the same quality as Flix Brewhouse or even Emagine in Noblesville (both of which would run cheaper for an actual meal and leather seats), yet these expectations fall well short.
Yelled at upon entry (mid day) that tickets are purchased up front and forced to listen to rather weird employee conversations while ordering is an interesting experience to say the least. Do not worry however, you will still get the consistent up charge sale tactic we are all fond of because the 50 cent increase for a Large bucket of yesterdayās popcorn is somehow better than the medium.
This theatre is not as bad as some claim rather, it is no where near good enough for the charges you incur to even go there. While cost of living increases on what seems to be on a daily basis and economic uncertainty is the swan song of post Y2K, this place underscores what it means to be a careless monopoly in a small area. Without any competition the local AMC has bred insufferable standards that arenāt even forgettable during the movie because of how terrible the product is presented in a half lit room. Employees smoke at the front doors, gossip as you reluctantly give up a kidney for some snacks and a watered down soda, and barely care enough about their job to turn the screen on so you can watch a movie with mid sound.
You read these reviews and suffer through it anyways because there is no other option close by, or you drive an hour to indy so you can experience something greater than the punchline to a Dane Cook joke in 2006; āWhy is the floor so sticky?...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreIn Terre Haute, this is the place to go for movies! The theater is large and well taken care of. The staff is always helpful, friendly, and they seem to enjoy their jobs. Which is rare for positions like theirs that are so often underpaid, and they are basically treated like servants by the public. The only problem I can find with this theater are the trashy moviegoers who are abusive to the staff, leave their litter and food all over the theater and trash the bathrooms. Guess what, it is not difficult or above anyone to throw away their own garbage. If you go to a packed theater the weekend a major blockbuster sold out movie opens, you are going to encounter issues, mess, and crowds. If these things bother you so much, pick a different time to go see a movie. I came to see Beauty and the Beast on Saturday 3/18/17 and encountered many unpleasant movie goers who acted worse than the children in the theater. By the way, parents, when you walk out and leave your trash behind, you are teaching your kid to be a slob like you. Yes, we should expect top notch service and cleanliness. Especially with the high ticket prices and crazy concessions prices. This corporation probably makes enough to deal with the issues. But the employees don't, and from what I have seen EVERY time I have been there, the staff are working very hard and doing everything possible to care for guests and the theater. Don't blame these people for the trashy stuck up people who can't throw away their drinks or break the Coke machine. The theater can't even fix the machine btw those have to be worked on by someone from the Coke company. Take your bad reviews and stick them somewhere else. Or maybe look in the mirror.
I will return to this theater any time, any day! And to the staff: you guys are great, you did well on a very rough weekend! I have been there and I know customer service is rough. Hope you all get a chance to...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreHmm...some of the employees had an attitude with each other last time. I don't know their names but, whatever they were fussing about is crazy to do in front of customers. Also, the online ordering system was so bad this time, we couldn't get our tickets e-mailed to us and had to check with the employees for our order (which also came with a popcorn and drink.) The food cooker popcorn maker guy also couldn't see the order, also having to check with the people he was a bit feisty with. They responded with "Whatever they said they got" which we were true to our word and got our order.
Not a very smooth experience this time, but any other time it would not have been like this. Strays was fire by the way.
Another thing, I went to go check out the little arcade, and I found the flappy bird machine loaded with credits, probably about 15$ worth. So maybe that was our compensation for the uncomfortable situation we got put in the middle of. But, I did put some of my own money into the CLAW MACHINES and that was a big mistake since they always suck.
Anyways, usually a 5/5 experience, this time probably a 3/5 with service and 5/5 for everything else.
Also, if you're reading this far, those tickets that were never emailed got refunded. We watched a movie and got fed for free that night. Just a little secret I wanted to let you in on. I'd put this as a 5 star but..I just can't, you know? Just put yourself in a scenario where you wouldn't have been refunded. Anyways, AMC is...
