This is the first time I have visited this diner but I left with a more than favorable impression. We were enthusiastically greeted when we entered and seated immediately. The dining area is much like any other diner which is kept neat and clean. The atmosphere was relaxing, not rushed and hectic. Ample seating. Restrooms were clean and stocked. All the staff we encountered were professional, engaging and friendly - especially our server Jess. Thank you Jess for such an enticing experience. I find it remarkable that most servers everywhere are able and willing to remember and relay ever changing specials of the day, especially when they are written on a board and we are not directed to go read them ourselves. All the while, they on their feet, waiting on customers, juggling many orders and remembering who gets what. Quite a feat in itself. I believe servers may be undervalued and underestimated by those that overvalue and overestimate themselves. A servers time and efforts are well worth extra compensation. The prices were more than comparable with surrounding diners. The amount of food served, variety available and quality of food was in a word - Excellent. The coffee was especially good and Jess advised us they ground it in house before making. An added plus. The check was brought to our table before we finished eating. It was not in an effort to hurry us but rather an effort to reduce any delays for us upon leaving. It worked. The check and payment were picked up at the table at our convenience and we were not caused any delay at a register while attempting to leave. Parking available is more than sufficient and handicapped spaces are available. Easy to access. Upon leaving, we were presented with a 20% coupon off our next order at our next visit. That coupon is good until the later part of next year. There was nothing to not like about this Metro Diner. Most...
Read moreWent in there for my birthday special for your birthday. They send you a thing for a free dessert I went in. Told them I wasn't able to come on my birthday cuz I'd had surgery. She was very sweet and said don't worry about it. We'll take care of it and when I pulled it up I seen that it was good regardless cuz it was good for 30 days so I told her that and she said well. Good that that's okay then. Then while I was eating my meal from my past experience I thought that he was a manager there, but if not maybe a lead cook or in this case I head cook. But he kept coming out and just staring and licking his lips. Just very uncomfortable setting. So anyway I just brush him off and continue eating my meal and as I'm leaving I have my receipt in my hand and me and this other table finished about first they told me to go ahead cuz she had her elderly mother with her. It looked like and said they was going to be a minute so I had my receipt in my hand walking along the wall holding myself up. Like I say cuz I just had surgery and I guess the lead or head server cedar person. Maybe the manager. I don't know. She was a woman dark brown hair came up and said was you just going to leave or was you going to pay? I said oh yes I'm going to pay. I said there's my receipt. Well you need to stay at your table and let the waitress take care of it. I said well I didn't know that or I forgot or whatever it was. I thought the register was right here. So anyway she said well we'll do it here anyway so they went and got me my money and then she said when's your birthday like I was trying to scam them out of a dessert. I won't be back. Me and my fiance won't be back and I will let everybody else know about this and I hope they won't be back either. Just ridiculous. I tell you it's...
Read moreGone are the days of an affordable breakfast. First time eating here. I bought a cup of coffee and half order of the biscuits and gravy. Came with an egg, and hashbrowns, but swapped for bowl of fruit. I believe this was $6.99, not including the coffee. The biscuits and gravy were pretty good, not great, but better than most places around here. Egg was typical fried egg, but no crispiness to the whites. The fruit was under-ripe. My daughter had the belgian waffle that cost $8.99. (their website says $7.99, but that's not what we got charged)One waffle. Nothing else. Our server was great! Tawanna. BUT, when we got the bill, we discovered that our coffee was $3.50 a cup!! Neither of us had even gotten a refill. I stopped eating at another local diner because they charged $2.50 for a cup of coffee, so I certainly won't be coming back here to pay $3.50 for a cup of coffee. Between the two of us, paying $7 for two cups of coffee, we could have bought a pound of coffee grounds at the grocery store. This price is just insane. These restaurants need to realize the price of their drinks can make or break them. It's no wonder they ask what you want to drink the second you sit down. In this day and age, I will have to look at the prices in the menu before...
