Sunshine Mill — Attraction in The Dalles

If I could choose to give no stars I would. This was my second time visiting after several years. We were in town for the cherry festival and wanted to taste some wine and experience the atmosphere. The second I walked I was greeted with oh hi. I was waiting for my family as they were parking closer and I was trying to decide on what kind of wine to try. The lady who greeted me was pretty rough in her tone with me and was like you know we close at 6. It was 4 pm when I arrived. I’m like yes I’m aware we are just here to try some wine. I was going to get a glass. It was $10 or a flight for $20. Which seemed like a better deal. The lady was like oh well I was going to have you try the wines before pouring you a glass! I tried to ignore the judgy tone, I could not any longer so I bought my cherry candy for my daughter and said I’m not wanting to stay! The lady was like WELL I already poured your glass of wine. I was like I don’t care. They didn't even give me a receipt! I was so disappointed on how they judged and treated me, I told my family let’s go. They did nothing to make things better. They acted like I didn’t even know what wine was or knew how...

I purchased a ticket to the Sunshine Mill's drive in movie by mistake on the wrong weekday. I have requested a refund through eventbrite, sent a separate digital message, called the winery multiple times and left a message, now I guess I am resorting to writing a review about their unresponsiveness. I have heard nothing back despite all of my attempts to contact them.

I ended up purchasing the correct ticket and going to a movie, also (just not on the incorrectly purchased date). It was really frustrating because nobody was there even checking if I had purchased a ticket. You can literally just drive in and watch the movie for free. I would just appreciate a refund for my extra ticket that was accidentally purchased on the wrong date, please. Since you don't even check if people even paid to begin with, why aren't you responding and giving...

Great wine, fantastic food, incredibly cool decor, super friendly staff.

Edited to add: We just had our wedding at Sunshine Mill last weekend and it could not have gone better. The staff rearranged their entire tasting area to turn it into an amazing dance floor and karaoke area. They worked closely with our other vendors to make sure everything went off without a hitch, and they kept us in the loop during the months leading up to the big day.

I can't thank them enough for helping us throw such an amazing party for our family and friends. If you're looking for an affordable but strikingly beautiful and unique wedding venue in the Gorge, definitely pay a visit to Sunshine Mill. You won't be...
