I was recently made aware of this park by a friend. I gave it a try, it is a bit further for me than another we frequent, however I was liking the sand aspect of things as it would dry and brush right off my dog. Also, the people seem very nice. Unfortunately, over the last few weeks, I have noticed a lot of dog poop not picked up. I mean a lot. On any given morning, I am picking up roughly 10 piles, that I see, and I know there is more! I did include a picture of one mess, although hard to pick up, I understand, but maybe rinse with the hose as it was close to it. This poor dog must not he be feeling well either. For the 2nd time, our dog has kennel cough and also his stool is not normal and we have him on a bland diet until he feels better and keeping him home so he does not spread the kennel cough. I completely understand you can't expect a dog park to be free of germs and that all dogs and owners aren't the same. Stuff happens. However, when you are at the park, I feel your main job, why you are there, is to keep an eye on your dog. I have seen too often people not paying attention, at all. The lack of respect for the park that the city has provided to us and our fur babies saddens me. #pickupthepoop #respectsummerlake...
Read moreI'm not a fan of the kiddy pool, as my dog is a water dog. She will lay in the pool then roll in the dirt and sand. There have been issues with the water bowls. Other than those 2 things, I enjoy this dog park. It is a great space with a grassy hill in the spring and summer. Lots of other dogs playing. And humans keeping a close eye on their dogs.
Very rarely have I seen a person be irresponsible. Normally that include someone leaving without their dog thinking no one will notice. Again, rarely!
It is wonderful to have a place to let my puppers off leash and play with her friends.
There is also a covered area and plenty of seating for the humans. Just remember, this is the dog's area and they have some everything on...
Read moreOther reviews are including the rest of the park which is really lovely. The ACTUAL dog park in winter is pretty atrocious and I don't think it's much better otherwise unless they open up the lawn area which is locked currently (2/10/2025). It's a fenced dirt/sand area with a covered area to sit, a water spigot, two trash cans. Needless to say, the dirt gets muddy and puddly in winter. People pick up after their dogs, so that's a relief. The rest of the park is beautiful but a leashed area. The park is south facing so it was nice and sunny the day I was there. There's parking in a...
