Went there last night (Friday @ about 6PM.) Waited less than two minutes for the host to get us seated and it was fairly busy. Friendly and super attentive bartender, friendly waiter (even though we were ordering to go from the bar, he didn't mind us temporarily using a table in his section and still happily bussed our empty glasses with a smile.) My son's burger was great and the Alaskan fish and chips was fantastic. Oh, and the IPA was as good as any. Fun and comfortable atmosphere and surroundings were clean.
I've got to say, I'm completely disgusted with the whiny, "the world evolves around me" mindset of people such as reviewers Louis Lamp and Blake Gilroy below. Everyone is so danged anxious to be a self-proclaimed expert/critic and analyze every last part of their experience as to whether their every whim was satisfied and if not, and feel it to be their moral duty to take their pound of flesh against the supposed offender. They have a "one strike and your out" mentality. Forget the ten times I had a solid or good experience - I wasn't happy this time so I'm going to flame you online. Service industry or not, these folks who work there are not required to please your every desire. Where did you get such crazy notions?? It would be interesting to spend a week at the workplace of Louis or Blake as see if they are at their 100% best 100% of the time, and if not, publicly rake them over the coals. Chill out everyone - you are not so...
Read moreA recent experience at this restaurant sullied the McMenamin's name and possibly violated the law concerning alcohol. Gave them 2 hours notice that we had a group of 20 would be arriving. Most of our group was over the age of 21, and arrived 45 minutes to an hour prior to the 10pm cutoff. After we arrived a family with an 8-10 year old was seated. After taking our orders, they demanded the two of us who were under age (19 and 20 respectively), they continued to serve the family (the parents were served alcohol). The family left the restaurant at about 10:45pm, in contradiction to Oregon Law and their own posted signs. The clam chowder wasn't properly cooked and the restaurant gained the moniker The Cold Clamwater Restaurant. We understand they were short a cook but instead of serving food as it was prepared, they waited until they had all the food ready (which meant most of the food was cold) and were difficult to deal with when trying to pay. In my own case, I was the third to pay for my meal, they could not find my ticket (which should have been $16), then they held the last person because they said that I didn't pay for my food. That issue was resolved after a long and drawn out aegument with management. Never going to this location and generally staying away from their restaurants from...
Read moreTwo experiences in the last two weeks have fueled this negative review. Both based around the same server- male with dark hair and glasses. First time we went to dinner he kept forgetting about us. Brought us the wrong food. Didn’t bring up drinks we ordered. The end of the night we left earlier then expected because we ordered another round and though he walked by us multiple times over 15 minutes the drinks never came. We had to walk up to the bar and ask for the check. (He also works the bar as well) Second experience was this evening. We went in, he sat us, didn’t greet us, then walked away. The female waitress even asked him if he was going to get us going and he said yes. We continued to sit there while he wandered around for another 15 minutes. He never came back even though we were in eyeshot. We wound up getting up and leaving only to drive to the other location over on Murray- where we were greeted and helped even tho they were busy. Sadly tho this one is closer to our house we probably won’t be going back. Understaffed, fine. But Atleast let us have a drink while we wait a prolonged period of time for our order...
