I have been there twice now. First time was good, obviously I went back so it was good enough to return. Second visit was an issue though...
Both times I ordered the same thing, a large Greek salad with chicken and falafel. Chicken was a little dry this time, and there was some cartilage... Not a lot, but enough to make me cautious eating the rest... cartilage (especially on such small pieces of chicken) is a bit of a turn off. It seems like many of these restaurants think it is acceptable to leave the icky bits on chicken, I don't know why they think it is ok... Are there enough people out there who are fine with eating chicken cartilage that I am the unreasonable one for wanting that stuff to be trimmed? For me, when I bite into cartilage my stomach turns a bit, regardless of how good the rest of the food tastes.
I also ordered the spanikopita. It had a slim stripe of spinach (maybe 1/8" or so), but about half of each piece had no spinach at all. With feta cheese only on top (not inside), which, because feta doesn't melt, the crumbles ended up falling off... The spanikopita were tasty for what they were, but honestly they were mostly filo.
What bothered me most (and what prompted me to write this review) is that they charged me $6.19 for the TWO falafel on my salad. The last time I went I don't know how many falafel there were but it was definitely more than 2, I believe it was more like 5 or 6. I definitely wouldn't have ordered falafels for my salad again had it only been 2 the first time.
Who charges $6.19 for two(2!) falafel?!?! The falafel were ok, exactly the same size and shape (perfectly round/flat), likely previously frozen from a food service, absolutely not worth $3/each. 5 or 6 food service falafel patties for $6 I can digest (so to speak), but for 2? Not so much. I make better falafels at home from a common mix from the grocery store (surprising good, better seasoning) for less than $6 and I think it makes about 20.
The people working there seemed friendly enough, is why I gave 3 stars instead of 2. But if there was a 2.5 star option, that's what I would choose based on this visit. The first visit I would have given a 4 (it would have been a 4.5 if there had been more chicken).
To be fair, it wasn't all bad. The salad ingredients were otherwise fresh (lettuce, tomato, cucumber, onion etc). Pita bread was soft and still warm when I got home, though also admittedly, probably another food service item (which is ok, I don't expect everything to be made from scratch... just don't sell me only 2 food service quality falafel for $6 and we are good).
It sucks because I was happy to find an alternative to Oasis, there are not enough healthy food options in this area (that don't charge an arm and a leg) that are also open til 9. Please somebody open a salad/healthy restaurant nearby... Huge bonus if you are open late... I would get an order to go 2x a...
Read moreThis is a cute little franchise spot (many locations in the US) with decent Greek-American food! We were out and about in the area so we placed a to go order online. It was super easy - their online system is organized and easy to navigate - and the order took about 30 minutes to pick up. We got a text once it was ready.
I loved the shrimp souvlaki plate. The shrimp were large, plump, and perfectly seasoned. The rice pilaf was delicious, and the pita bread was fluffy and tasty too. My daughter got the salmon plate, with nicely cooked and flavorful salmon. I thought the gyro was tasty, but had too much tzatziki for our taste (next time I will ask if we can have it on the side; it is delicious but there was just a huge glob of it in the gyro).
We also got the chicken plate, which was our least favorite. The chicken was a little dry and over-seasoned for our taste. It wasn't terrible, but wasn't up to the same quality as the shrimp. We got a side of hummus because of course you need hummus with this meal, and it was creamy and delicious. We also ordered a side of fries which looked good, but unfortunately, turned out to be pretty soggy and stuck together.
The space inside is light and bright, and would be nice to enjoy a lunch in between shopping or running errands in the area. It's located in the Greenway shopping center near Whole Foods on Scholls Ferry Road, so there's plenty of parking in the parking lot. The staff were all kind and helpful.
We'll definitely be ordering from them again when we're...
Read moreMy wife and I, on a whim, searched for a dining place to patronize after seeing the movie “F1.” I felt like doing something out of the norm, and we chose this MARVELOUS establishment. We are VERY glad we did!
First of all: the greeting! We received a very warm, pleasant welcome (not a robotic, monotone comment). When announcing it was our first visit, the counter staffer said “Welcome, again! Take your time with the menu. I’m here to help!”
Upon placing our order, we were given two cups for a “serve yourself” soda dispenser. NOTE: considering it’s walk-up service at the restaurant, the staffer transacted our order and declared “I’m happy to bring your order to you!”
In a very reasonable time, we had our food - dining outdoors. The portions were more than generous, and the pricing was comfortable for us. I ordered lamb skewers; my wife ordered the salmon. Both meals were dee-licious! Well-prepared, and nicely presented.
One can eat anywhere, and have an OK experience. When one can find a place that hits all of the Ps (Pleasant, Personal, Personable), AND get great food, it’s a Home Run, to be sure.
Before departing, I engaged the server - praising the experience we had. I also indicated we would be back, soon.
We heartily recommend this restaurant for its cleanliness, menu variety, great service, option of indoor & outdoor dining, and the way our server made eye contact - was responsive & pleasant - and gave us cause to...
