First I would like to say that the environment when you walk in is stunning.
However, our room (which we upgraded to a more expensive room) was filled with a smell that was that of disgust. Even with the fans on the smell would not leave both bathrooms and master bedroom. We were told upon arrival the room was ready when there was a trail of crumbs on the floor leading to the living room. Also, throughout the night my husband had to kill a HUGE COCKROACH in our room!! For the amount of money that we spent for our stay this was extremely disgusting, not to mention I have children this could have easily crawled on my infant. This was the first thing that messed up our trip.
Secondly, the reviews earlier on the site about the spa are TRUE. DO NOT GO TO THE SPA. You could spend a fraction of the prices here going to a local spa and getting MUCH BETTER SERVICE! With my reservation I had paid for the spa in advance, but was told from the spa that I did not and I had to speak to the main lobbyist about this issue. I went back and forth with both the spa and the front desk four times, which took the better part of 45 minutes to an hour before the situation was resolved. Little did I know that was just the beginning of the issues. Once, I actually went into the spa area the issues were just getting started. The HALO-therapy room was extremely cold, there was no aroma and it was in fact not pleasant at all! The service was for 45 minutes long and I did not stay more than ten minutes before deciding to leave. Then you pay $75 for the services and experience of what? One giant jacuzzi, that is coed and the men in the room made the experience even more uncomfortable and having phones out taking pictures is beyond violating. Overall the spa and the staff were underrated, I wish I could have just gotten my money back, I was charged for two persons and told my husband to not even go because of how disgusting and small and rude everyone was. I wasnât even attended once I was inside. This was definitely the worst spa experience I've had and to be charged for a spa experience that in fact was not up to satisfactory with minimal to no activities is just robbery. Youâd have more fun at the waterpark with more amenities than the spa has and itâs INCLUDED in your stay.
As far as dinner was concerned my family went to eat at Double Cut and while our waiter Kyle was AMAZING, we waited over an hour for our food which was the smallest porterhouse my husband and I had ever since and to be charged $70 for this was ridiculous. My family and I left without even enjoying our food as our children were so overwhelmed and hungry to have waited all that time.
To conclude the only nice amenities of this hotel was in fact the waterpark and arcade. WHICH NOT TO MENTION YOU CAN JUST COME FOR THE WATERPARK & not be charged this insane room fee. The staff in the waterpark were extremely attentive and pleasant to deal with as well as the staff at the food service near the arcade.
Do not stay here unless you want to take home roaches and smell disgusting orders. Not to mention I brought this up with the staff and before attending to all of my concerns they just charged...
Read moreI am not one to leave negative reviews but I was very disappointed with my experience at Spa Kalahari. When I first arrived and gave my name, I was handed a clip board without even an explanation or a greeting. After this, I was taken back to get changed and was rushingly told to sit in a dark room when I was done without much more explanation. I arrived at 2:30p for a 3p appointment as told and told that I could use the jacuzzi and sauna before or after my services.
After sitting in the dark room for 10min, I went up front and asked if I could use the jacuzzi. A woman came back and said your therapist will be out any minute and you âdonât want to have to get wet and dry off before your facial.â She then showed me the salt room but proceeded to try and sell me 45min in the room after my appt for 30$..
I then continued to sit in the dark room til 3:15p (total of 45 min that couldâve been spent in the sauna or jacuzzi - I value my alone time!) when this same woman noticed I was passed my appt time. I was booked with someone apparently that was off that day. They kindly rearranged their schedule and didnât make a big deal out of it. My facialist was very apologetic and kind. She is the only reason Iâm giving any stars. Iâve had many facials in the past, and this one was not the best.
My facialist was super sweet so I hate to be negative, just wouldâve loved a quiet appointment and to not have been talked to the entire hour (being surrounded by kids on the regular, this is my quiet time). My facialist was so apologetic about not being able to use the jacuzzi prior (and I could not stay to use after as I had children who wanted to get to the waterpark and dinner reservations at 5p). Also, my facial started at 3:25 and only lasted til 4:05 :( but I paid full price. It is my own fault for not speaking up about this.
The front desk woman (different than the woman who (didnât) greet me) was very kind and said I could come back anytime before the day ends to use the jacuzzi. Unfortunately, I didnât have time that day to go back and probably will not come back...
Read moreWhile Kalahari Spa has a great atmosphere, the MASSAGE THERAPIST ERICA WAS NOT GOOD. I previously went to this spa and had Steve who I absolutely loved. I was scheduled with Steve again and was so excited. When my name was called somebody else started going back with him and I made them aware that the wrong customer was going back. I then got stuck with Erica. When brought back to my room Erica told me that she was not as good as Steve and he has the magic touch. Which was strange because at such a high quality spa, every therapist should be as good as Steve. Erica was barely touching me and I asked her if she could use more pressure. She told me told no, this is a relaxation massage not a therapeutic massage. The description of the relaxation massage is âEnjoy complete relaxation during this full body massage, ideal for relieving tension, improving circulation and finding your Zen.â Absolutely no tension was relieved as no pressure was applied. It was more of a lotion rub down. It felt as if she was using her fingertips and sloppily applying lotion to my skin. I went as the bride of a bachelorette party and everyone else was talking about how great their hand and foot massage was. I then realized I did not even get a hand massage. My foot massage was just my feet wrapped in a hot towel. When we got to the back, I was really hoping the massage would get better. It was a hot towel placed on my back with a little pat on my back. I was then told my massage was over and was left so disappointed that I felt like I was barely even massaged. I was hoping to leave so relaxed, but instead left the room stressed and upset. However, the manager Kerri was so helpful. She was made aware of the situation and handled it in a very professional manner. The spa itself was beautiful. It is very clean and well kept. The amenities were amazing and so relaxing. Itâs a great place to go with a group of friends, your significant other, or just yourself to relax. I totally would go back as long as I never have...
