HORRIBLE!!! TOURIST TRAP!!
Unfortunately, as great as Kalahari Resort is, they fall short on the food. My family and I were all hungry after hours in the Waterpark and we were ready to end the night with a nice meal. We were intrigued by the photos of the burgers & shakes at B-Lux and decided to try it.
The burgers were severely overpriced, with a standard cheeseburger starting at $16 and a double patty burger at a whopping $24. Granted, it is a resort, so we understood the inflation and we were willing to pay the convenience fee. However, if you're going to charge such a high price tag, then at least serve good, quality food.
Here's the scoop on the food......THE BURGER lacked taste, and was dry despite the fact that I ordered it medium. The bread was stale, which ruined the burger even more. The cheese looked like the worst imitation cheese I've ever seen. The fries were cold and tasteless.
THE SHAKE........$12 for a "standard" vanilla shake arrived with almost half of the cup full of whipped cream. It wasn't immediately noticed until after the first few sips since the shake was the same color as the whipped cream. After a few sips was when I noticed the gap and realized that I got ripped off of almost half a glass of milkshake. The shake was also thick and hard to drink with a straw. (Picture attached)
The waiter was very nice, and he asked how everything was, and I told him that he was a great waiter, but that unfortunately, we did not enjoy our food. I showed him the stale bread and I showed him the half empty milk shake, and he actually agreed that someone "dropped the ball" on the milkshake. Despite the complaints, and despite how nice he was, he did absolutely nothing to accommodate our poor experience, and proceeded to give us the hefty tab.
Kalahari should really invest in providing their guests with better food that at least justifies the high price tag.
If you are ever going to stay at this resort, plan your day wisely and make time to go outside of the resort to eat. There are many great restaurants just 3 miles away from the resort. It's worth getting into the car and driving out to get some real food.
Lastly, ignore the fake 5 Star reviews. Pay attention to the low reviews and you will see the common denominator in the similarities of...
Read moreSpoiler alert Mean-Girl through my refill cup away to be nasty and passive-aggressive! Three stars because my food was good for dinner and breakfast, and the breakfast waiter was so nice pleasant.
The bartender Ashley at B-LUX at the Kalahari Resort — a petite woman with black hair, glasses, tattoos on her arms, and her hair pinned up.
On Friday night, August 8, 2025, we went to B-LUX for dinner. Early in the visit, my niece asked about getting a refill cup. I had my purchased Pepsi refill cup with me. Ashley told us that B-LUX does not sell refill cups — only the clear plastic cups they provide — but they will honor refill cups purchased elsewhere around the resort. My sister ordered my niece a regular drink in a plastic cup, since those cups are not refill cups.
While waiting for our food, I asked Ashley where the nearest place was to refill my cup. She offered to refill it for me. I asked if she could rinse it first. She agreed, took my cup, and then came back with a clear cup — telling me she had thrown my original refill cup away.
We had just discussed that clear cups are not refill cups. When I confronted her, she claimed my niece could not get a refill on that same type of cup, but I could because I “previously” had a refill cup. Lies...
My sister gave me a look to stop because our food hadn’t arrived yet, we were staying another day, and we’d eat there again. I didn’t want to risk anyone doing something to our food, so I stopped talking.
Next day, at the Mac & Cheese place in the resort, staff confirmed clear cups are not refill cups — but honored my refill because I had my receipt.
What Ashley did was deliberate, passive aggressive, unnecessary mean-girl behavior. I would like a manager to be made aware, speak to her about it.
I would have forgiven Ashley if she’d just apologized for throwing my refill cup away, but she lied instead, that's how I know she did it on purpose. She couldn't bear to...
Read moreHorrible all the way around. Our waiter didn’t come to take our drinks until about 15-20 minutes after being seated. Since he took so long to take our drink order we already knew what we wanted as an entree. For myself, I ordered what I thought to be an appetizer along with my entree. But wait it didn’t stop there. It took an additional 30 minutes to even receive our drinks. Now usually when you go out to eat the drinks are the first thing that comes out and the appetizer follows. No. Our drinks came out with our entree. The kicker is that the appetizer then turned into the entree as I did not receive my appetizer in a timely manner. Now, when he brought out drinks out he became distracted halfway into giving us our drinks and walked away leaving our drinks on the other table. He eventually came back and gave us the rest of our drinks. Fast forward to food. It was pretty solid. Not bad. Overall for food I would give it a 7 out of 10. When it was time to pay we had to ask another waiter to track down our waiter because he left us at the table for such a long period of time. We also asked for 3 boxes to take home the remaining food we had. Again, he took so long to give out the checks that by the time he came back he only had the checks. Leaving me to just finish my meal..so now we only needed 1 box. Anyways, we all paid. My mother happened to pay with a credit card. It took our waiter a total of 35 minutes to return the card. The kicker is that we had to track down the manager to even get a hold of our waiter to figure out what he was even doing with her card for that long. The manager was very pleasant and helped us promptly. She even took off a few items on our receipt for such the long wait. This place wouldn’t be bad if they had people pay more attention to their tables and speed up the service. Honestly I probably wouldn’t go back, but as for you..you can be the judge of if you want to go to this...
